Missed Ballistic Weave

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 5:41 am

So I think I missed my opportunity to get ballistic weave. I bypassed the railroad quests opting to go for the institute once I got there. Now the more I read, the more I am hearing about ballistic weave and how if I did just a few railroad quests I would have access to it. Now, the railroad is dead and I'm wishing I had weave. Is there any other way to get it?

My understanding is you are out of luck. But the whole game isn't dissected by people with the CK yet, so who knows!

Made a topic about this a few days ago. I'm missed it too. Crossing my finger's there may be some way to get it in later DLC but for right now I'm pretty sure it's gone for us, at least thats what the guides say.

Its a choice isn't it?

I believe that you get that as a reward for supporting the railroad, so if you didnt do their missions its hard cookie. Unless you were working as some kind of double agent and planning to take out the railroad after getting it?

Do the other factions offer a unique upgrade?

Meh, I've got it but it doesn't work on the outfits I was hoping it would.

Yeah, I wish it would have worked on my Silver Shroud Hat.

It works on the Minuteman outfit and the Atom Cats Outfit, though, so I am happy enough. Either of those with the Battered Fedora (which works, as well). Look pretty darn good. Waltzing around with 220/220.

The Minuteman will also accept all layered armor. so you are adding 110/110 to whatever layered armor setup you use. Can get in the 300's without too much trouble. I don't care for the look of it however.

Usually I settle for my Silver Shroud outfit and Battered Fedora. 197/197.

I saw a video the other day that basically explained you only have to do 2 or 3 quests with the railroad before it's unlocked. Also, a robot in Goodneighbor has the stuff but I guess you need to unlock the recipe?

Just beat the institute main story. Time to make a new character. Take my time on the main story. Do side quests.

It's just ballistic fiber. You probably already have lots of it. You are right about the vendor in Goodneighbor though, she does sell bulk shipments of it.

Once P.A.M. gives you some armored clothes, you can now go to any armor station and apply ballistic weave to stuff that has an initial armor rating of 0. Not everything, but most things. Wiki has a list, and I have not noticed any mistakes in the list yet...

edit: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ballistic_weave

edit: plus you can upgrade Pipers Red Leather coat, and it becomes good armor for her. But I prefer she wears the armored red dress. ;P
