Missed Level Ups and Perks - feel stupid but ripped off

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 8:53 pm

Played through most of the regular game knowing that I hit MAX XP of 20,000 - was bummed about it but played on regardless - the game it is just cool.

Then I read you Level Up to 30,000 with Broken Steel, get to increase Skill values, perks, etc.

So I installed the 5 add-on quests that came with my Game of the Year Edition set.

Got really bummed out this morning after the install and realized my XP points are already close to 30,000 and I missed out on all those Level Ups and Perks. :(

I found the saved game when I hit MAX XP, which was between game saves 35 and 36, but I'm well over game save 100 now and haven't played the last 5 quests.

It's my own stupidity but short of re-playing those parts of the game, is there anything else I can do to get my Level Ups and Perks?

Note that I've reading the Fallout 3 wiki, have found a lot of Skill books and looking to retrieve all my Bobbleheds.

If you're on PC I believe you can add perks and set your skill levels yourself

Either way, whether you're on PC or using a console, this sounds more like a bug. When I installed Broken Steel I didn't get any previously earned experience points after hitting the level 20 cap.

Thanks for the quick response.

I tend to agree with you on the bug.

When I LOAD my latest save, the startup screen XP bar graph shows just a little over 20,000 XP, but when you go in to Pipboy (F1) the XP shows 29450 / 32500.

That's where I've been looking during game play to see how close I am to Level Up.

BTW, how can I add my perks and set my skill levels on my PC? Again, I wouldn't normally do this as I see little point in playing a challenging game if I'm going to cheat. I feel the same way about Olympic athletes using chems to improve their performance.

I installed the latest patch 1.7 - maybe it has something to with it.
