Hi

I am playing Skyrim and am only a couple of hours in. I have none of the expansions installed, but they are available as DLC whenever I want them, but I wanted to complete the vanilla game(No mods) first. I just arrived at Whiterun and a vampire was fighting some guards so I weighed in and when it was all over I had Vampire Boots and Armour. I equipped the armour as it had some nice magical properties. However I then got a virus on my PC so I saved my saved games on another hard drive and reformatted and then reinstalled Windows and the Skyrim. I put my old saved game files in and it seemed to be working ok, but I did get the error message "This save relies on content that is no longer present. Some objects may no longer be available." , but then a little girl said I was naked. So I zoomed out and sure enough I had no armour and my vampire armour was gone. Now I believe that vampire should never have been in my vanilla game and I should never have had that armour as it's in only in 1 of the DLC's. Is this a bug ? And how can I check that this was the only thing I have lost?

Vampire armour came with Dawnguard. When you played you had Dawnguard installed and running otherwise you wouldn't have been able to get this armour.

I can't follow you. How is it possible without having Dawnguard DLC, to get in to this: I just arrived at Whiterun and a vampire was fighting some guards

Are you sure you haven't Dawnguard installed, or you haven't used saves relying on Dawnguard contents. ???
