I almost have my Skyrim game set up to a near perfect-as-can-be-expected state, but I've had this one nagging bug...
Looking West from the bridge of the Mages College at Winterhold, you can see this big gaping hole of "Nothing" in the LOD:

You can also see it in a few spots in the distance. Those distant patches, I could probably live with. It's that near one that really gets to me.
Are there any quick fixes to this? I really don't want to start messing with uGrids settings on my new save; I'd be perfectly happy with the plain old low quality Skyrim LOD loading, as long as something is there. I have tried removing various mods with no change, so I don't think it's mod related. I have found old references to this bug, some at the same spot (College of Winterhold bridge). So did someone on the design team just decide that the LOD shouldn't show up in that spot because "no one would ever happen to look to their right as they leave the Mages College"? Is this just another one of those "Bethesda's game engine" bugs that people just live with or is there a workaround at least?
"There's a feeling I get when I look to the West,
[The landscape] is crying for leaving.
[On my screen] I have seen [landscape holes] through the [seas],
And the [curses] of those who stand looking!"

[EDIT - had to re-add the link for the picture since the editor told me I included too many images (one) :-/
