Missing saved games?

Post » Fri Aug 27, 2010 9:48 am

I've been playing Morrowind with Tribunal and Bloodmoon already installed for quite a while now. I got mad at a couple glitches and my journal constantly being full from quests that wouldn't finish so I downloaded Morrowind Patch Project. I had to edit some permissions to get my computer to unrar the files into the Morrowind directory. Now I can't access my saved games from the actual game. I can still locate them in the folder. I also have Wrye Mash or whatever it's called and that isn't recognizing the saves either. To view them in the folder I have to click Compatibility Mode. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Does anyone know how to make it recognize my saves again?

Did you install the game by any chance in the Default Dir?
Aka : C:\program files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\...??

Yeah, everything is default. The only thing I've changed are folder permissions. And even then the only thing I did was give admin and user full privs.

If I copied and pasted my saved games into a different folder then uninstalled and reinstalled Morrowind, would that fix it possibly? After I put the saves back in the Saves folder? Or is there an easier way?

Easier Way:
Turn off UAC (User account control) or
move the Morrowind folder to somewhere else and edit the "Installed Path" registry key.

Default is bad...very bad.

You need to put this in a simpler folder structure.
I use c:\Games\

I had to reinstall Morrowind on my new machine a Win 7 -64 system.

And later on strange things appeared. Third Party application not working, or some plugins going wonky.

After a new install to the c:\Game \Dir. Things improved.

Installed Fallout3 the same way.

Just for future reference. Default is way of the bad !
