I'm enjoying "Skyrim" currently. The Fourth Era is a more brutal one in many ways, but more interesting. You could make the case that Morrowind was stagnant by the time the Nerevarine shows up to clean house. What always stuck in my mind when I played "Morrowind" was that Vivec's palace was empty when our characters finally were able to explore it; it was like a symbol for the province of Morrowind, a building whose glory years were long past. It's unfortunate that the Dunmer are rootless now, but they're also freer.
I'm in the process of finishing a quest in "Skyrim" that mentions what happened to the Telvanni.
Spoiler You find the origin of an orphaned Dunmer and discover he's the last heir to House Telvanni, born around 4E6, when his father's journal mentions the Argonians invaded, partly in revenge for the history of slavery.
