MISSION MARKER

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:11 am

What made oblivion lesser than morrowind to me was the mission marker. I just lost the feeling of exploration and wonder for that little red pointy thingy bastard!
Sadly, I highly doubt they will remove it in skyrim. Because no mission marker means hiring more voice actors / paying more to voice actors. So they will tell us exactly/imply where to go. And i believe bethseda will think "thats too dull to pay for". I really hope they wont tho... Because, if that mission marker will be in skyrim, my heart will be out of there :<

Wanted to know, am i the only one who cares about this thing?

thoughts? comforts?

I don't mind a marker to get me to a house or fort, but once I'm in there I want to do all the searching by using clues.

Oh, and I don't think all capital titles are allowed.

Easiest way to fix this without mods;

Track a quest that you have no intention of doing. Then move on with your life.

Done!

Then realise that nothing in the game gives you proper directions because it's designed with quest markers in mind.

NO. wrong.

Because, there is nothing else telling me where the quest is except the mission marker

Although I would prefer no marker at all, like the person said above I wouldn't mind a marker that lead me close to an area for a specific cave/fort/landmark that I am supposed to be looking for. However, that is where I draw the line. There should not be a marker constantly following a specific person or item around, it is a huge immersion break and makes the game ridiculously easy.

Which means I get to explore and use my own brain even more! It worked out for me. :D

It is in America too. I believe thats why he used it.

And if it's not censored. It doesn't matter. You should have full power over your kids, and if your don't want them to read this forum so they don't pick up bad language. Don't let them read it.

I really hated the quest marker. In morrowind if I pop the game in now, after playing the heck out of it, I can assure you that I will find something new If i look hard enough.
Oblivion doesn't have this. In Oblivion tthe stupid arrow broke all immersion, turned every quest into a point and click adventure, and practically ruined the game for me because there was 0 exploration when you knew the location of everything within 200 yards of you.

In Skyrim, I will be very, very, very, very, VERY dissapointed if they keep this system. It just feels like a cop out.

If they do decide to put the quest arrow/compas in I will be pissed, and if they don't make it optional I will be furious.

And so because previous games could just about be made bearable by playing them in an irregular way there's no reason to revise the irritating features in future instalments?

I http://img171.imageshack.us/f/compasslighter.jpg/ from the recently leaked footage that clearly shows the compass, and I don't see any quest marker on it.

Used with moderation, quest markers could be pretty nice. Mark the ruins entrance, but not the exact location of the chest containing the artifact I need. Something like that. The use of quest markers is supposed to be less excessive this time around anyway.
At least that's what I remember reading quite a while ago...

I'd like the option to turn off all markers to be honest. Just give me the compass.

Since NPCs are supposed to give directions I don't see why they'd want to keep the mission markers. Seems redundant.

I dunno about that, it's possible that the marker is pointing off to the side or behind the player, I honestly think they're going to stick with the quest arrow but I hope they tone it down a bit, just point to the general vicinity and let us hunt for the small stuff.

On these forums bastard is not a censored word, it is for example the name of a type of sword, but if used in the incorrect way such as a derogatory term or a flame then the mods will be after that member for using it.
