Mithril anyone?

It should probably be pointed out that placing the setting in a jungle would probably result in having to chop through the foilage to get anywhere. And with 16 square miles or so to explore, this would be even worse than hacking through cliff racers.

You can walk through grass "objects"/graphics in most game, Oblivion included. The thick undergrowth (and over- and middlegrowth, apart from trees and larger stuffies) of a djungle could have been handled the same way. Off course, they could have actually have but havoc on the grass, vine and bushthings, making them bend after the PC, but that would have been a waste of resources, in my opinion.

Finally! Someone with enough sense to see that Oblivion wasn't the exception to the rule as far as its Tolkein-esque elements. Morrowind was the game that was "different". I know the whole jungle/vs/temperate thing for Cyrodil, and I agree there. We've talked about that before. I'm talking about how younger players who were teething when Daggerfall and Arena were on the shelves at the local store. They hear that Oblivion broke lore, and begin screaming about the LOTR influence on Oblivion. You really can't base that opinion on the two latest TES games, considering one of those two games was deliberately alien, even by TES standards. MW is a weird place. Anyway... Good point, as always, Albides.

Well.. LOTR did influence Oblivion. :meh:

Jungle foilage is much denser than bushes; if they made it so you can just walk through it, it'd just be unrealistic.

But this is getting off-topic.

I never said it didn't. LOL. I'm just saying that it's not that big a deal since LOTR influenced almost everything of the fantasy genre. Either LOTR or D&D most of the time, which D&D is directly influenced by LOTR. OB really isn't that out of place (in the LOTR-look-alike department) when you consider the TES series in its entirity. Like I said, MW was the exception rather than the rule.

It isn't just Morrowind, it's Redguard and Daggerfall as well. All of them introduced and changed certain things. Just like Oblivion.

I feel as if Morrowind expanded rather than changed anything. I feel like Albides here and he brings many good points.

Now may I remind you this is about Mithril, not a debate about Morrowind or Oblivion. Please stick to the topic.

Well, there's still the possibility of Mithril Ore somewhere out there. There were ebony, glass, adamantium, and iron ores.

I removed it from Morrowind because its presence made me sick.

I leave, they put it back into OBL. Its presence still makes me sick.

Go figure.

I think that it's more like you leave, and they completely neglect all the new lore you had into Morrowind and tired going rogue with it all in Oblivion.

Imperial forts? No, we have Imperial fort RUINS!

But you know, I bet you urged them to stick that sickening glass armor in there.

'Come on guys, it's like a sea of majestic green.'

EDIT: Of course, they probably let go of all those talented artists anyway, which is why we see less mushroom more tree.

Guilty as charged. Can't win 'em all. Though I still delight in saying the oxymoronic "glass armor".

No, Penial sounds more like The Clairvoyant. And really, I never cared for him. So all I've drawn from it was he had some goofy http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/2259/paladint5fixed2vc7.jpg armor and the ability to shoot things that sting like Jennifer Love Hewitt's acting abilities out of his nipbles.

Unless...you were a motif behind him, TOO!?!?!

MK has said that Pelinal is more of a Terminator, not a human with Warcraft armor.

Another thing that's changed over the years (though I haven't played Daggerfall) is what's been done to the Imperial Cult temples; taking a cult such as Dibella's and making it bland and safe for the kids.

Right, right, back from the future to piss on everyone's parade.

Still seems like a guy who lost it to me. Oh, but wait, wait, let's get Crimson Paladin in here so he can try and convince us that Terminator could be more or less literal to a guy who goes around in a cool jumpsuit spraying for bugs rather than a nifty implementation of futuristic capabilities. If only becuase when they mention swords in the game, they literally ARE swords. :P

Also, yeah, there wasn't so much to be seen in Morrowind of any Imperial Cult other than someone sitting there saying 'Hey, have fun with collecting the money.', Oblivion was perfect to use them to their fullest...and yet all we get are these chapels that all look EXACTLY THE SAME, with nothing in them at all, no substance, just nifty little statues that do nothing at all any way, and a shrine that you can only use once you find the respective hunk of rock out in the wilderness.

AND, AND...not-uh paws!!! If he farted kalpas you'd probably DO him.

If he had two winkies you'd be all over him.

now to try and make this post worthwhile. I would justify the change in imperial shrines with the change in location (between morrowind and daggerfall anyways). the people in highrock are a lot more open with their sixuality and the imperial cult religion has been entrenched there for ages. Morrowind however is a new place for the empire and they want to be careful not to offend the population with naked ladies. my oblivion shrines are varied, have ritual prostitution, and a deep and involving quest line that revolves around the origin of the divines.

There is no indication that Pelinal was anything other than a man other than crazy rantings in a forum.

...and the crazy man ought to know who Pelinal is. The difference between man and gods is but technology.

Putting six in Fable 2 is considered safe for the kids?

I removed it from Morrowind because its presence made me sick.

I leave, they put it back into OBL. Its presence still makes me sick.

I believe that pretty much clears up this issue. Thank you. :)

If it's anything like Fable 1, Sesame Street puts on a racier program every morning. We all know Oscar is naked from the waist down.
