Mithril anyone?

I don't want pretty. I want exotic, demonic, and ritualistic.

Guilty as charged. Can't win 'em all. Though I still delight in saying the oxymoronic "glass armor".

People who live in glass armor shouldn't throw stones. Sorry, I couldn't resist saying it.

On-topic, I liked the look of mithril; they did it pretty well in TES IV, even if the lack of conversation topics due to voice acting prevented them from giving an origin to mithril.

Could you try to convince them to go back to the Morrowind style glass armor in the next game? Pretty please.

But it's such pretty armor. (even though I'm usually a spellcaster in robes)

There'd be no fuss at all if they'd just given it another name. I don't see why they didn't.

They can remake that version of Glass as a Yokudan material. Armor of Please For The Love Of God Turn Off The Bloom And HDR.

It comes from Tolkien. 1954.

Actually, Mithril appeared waaay earlier than that in the Tolkien legendarium. The Hobbit employed this mysterious metal and that was written in the 30"s( 1939, IIRC). However, if you have ever read the "Unfinished Tales" there could be reason to believe that Mithril first appeared in his Legendarium in 1919, when he was working on " The Fall of Gondolin".

I'd prefer they do glass armor the way they did it in Arena.

But it's safely that it was Tolkien who made the word in particular. It may not have been copyrighted but it's still from Arda. It's not from Nirn or anywhere else.

The latter.

Though Elvish armor in Arena looked pretty close to Glass armor in Oblivion.

I'd second that, with the exception of Morrowind's Glass helm; it looked kind of like a bad comic-book helmet to me. Overall, MW's Glass green (I challenge you to say that fast) was a better color.

It's good to know that at least the modders are trying to keep the advlt aspects of Tamrielic religion.

No, oh sweet mother of 'Pass me another martini, please, Chachi.' God, do NOT request to bring back Morrowind glass, I want to see what the Nords can fathom from within Labyrinthian, I'd imagine some very gothica-requiem stuff, bad ass silver under-plating with a built in Mead holder to boot.

Granted you have a point. Glass armor would be a bit out of place if we do end up going to Skyrim next. But if it's going to be in the next game I'd prefer Morrowind's design to Oblivion's.

Nah, if they were to put it back in, I'd be looking forward to some cool Atmorian version, which is probably quite spiky just as per Morrowind. I guess we'll see, though. Crossing fingers, eh? :D

Although I liked the design of Morrowind Glass Armor better (Except for the bracers, I much prefer gauntlets), it seemed like most of it wasn't actually the glass material, like as if it were "composite glass armor".

Yes, I agree....that style was much more beautiful than what we got in Oblivion.

Yeah, OB's armor looks like a bright green rugby uniform. LOL.

skyrim will no doubt have the equally dayglow 'stahlrim' armor. just replace bright green with bright blue.

morrowind's glass armor made more sense, as the glass was more crystaline, and it reflected in the design out the weapons and armor.

also, according to early TES lore, adamantium was supposively a refined form of mithiril, akin to how steel is refined from iron. also mentioned is that elven, dwarven and orcish are all alloys of iron.

i'm actually curious to see what abominations of items will result from the providence of skyrim. since it is heavily based on ice, i'm betting on tons of bright blue and bright white colors. stahlrim will be the new glass for sure.

Heavily based on ice?
What are you talking about?

...Have I missed something? Last I checked, stahlrim was supposed to be sacred.

Every cynic assumes that will be forgotten. :)

But slightly more to the point, is there any armor on the books for the Nords?
