Mixed blood? Lore question

Post » Sun Nov 24, 2013 4:45 am

When playing Dawnguard as a Vampire Lord, Valerica refers to you as a ''Vampire of mixed blood''. Is this accurate? I thought when Harkon bites the Dragonborn, he becomes a full-fledged Vampire. Does this mean the other Volkihar Vampires are of ''mixed blood'' aswell whatever that means? Thanks!

The only truly pure-blooded vampires are those who got their gift directly from Molag Bal. The Dragonborn's vampirism is strong, but it's less pure than Harkon's or Valerica's.

What about other vampires in the court? Are they all mortals-that-were-turned or are all of them pureblood, which I doubt, because then Harkon wouldn't need Serana.

As far as I know, only Harkon, Valerica and Serana underwent Molag's ritual. The others were turned by Harkon.

Ah I see now. Therefore it's safe to assume the Volkihar Vampires were all turned the same way Dragonborn was, making them powerful vampires but not pure-blooded. I don't think there's any info on anyone else in Skyrim who has performed the ritual?

The game only suggests that Harkon's family alone went through the ritual, it doesnt say anything about the other vampires. but they were probably turned by Harkon or they were stray vampires that joined him.

I always thought that after Valerica became a vampire she was the one that turned Harkon.

If Harkon himself got it directly from Molag Bal wouldn't he be able to blood-curse an elven arrow by himself?

From the way it was told I thought it was always the women who were offered to Molag Bal. That was why I thought Harkon was made a vampire by Valerica.
