Mixed feelings about in game class change

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:02 am

like the title says, i have mixed feelings about in game class changing. the fact that you can do this sorta takes away from the team work. its like i could change classes constantly and do all the work by my self.

if you could not change classes in game then that would promote more teamwork. although, i can see the cons in this method. if a team made up of randoms only had one engineer then that means that if he doesnt do the objective like he should then the entire team is doomed.

And that is exactly why the game has it.

You obviously never played an SD game (Not meant in a bad way).

You need to be able to change classes depending on the situation. Choosing a class and adapting is a big part of the teambased gaming experience. This applies to both Pub play and competitive.
Not being able to change class would ruin the whole game. Believe me, as a W:ET Veteran, I can't count how many times someone or me saved the whole team just by switching class.

You could do everything but not all at once. Regardless of what class you choose there will be objects and similar tasks you can complete as well as objectives you can assist with. However choosing a class won't lock you in for the entire mission.

I assume changing classes won't be instantaneous and ridiculous... don't you have to return back to spawn point to do so?

If they didn't have it, single player would be a lot less interesting. I think it's a great idea, one of the best of Brink. You really have to think about what you'll need for all classes and distribute them accordingly every match. It'll make the games very tactically interesting.

Yup, you have to go to a control point to change both your class and your weapons.

Whoah, wat? So does each character of yours have various loadouts, or is it totally free weapon selection/customization from the control point?

Would read the Compendium but that website makes my brain hurt and I can't seem to work around it...

So then the in-match control points offer full weapon selection or customization? You don't switch to a pre-determined loadout?

I tend to take your word for things, but do you have a source for that one?

I watched a vid today, well actually a whole shed load, and one showed class change and a weapon loadout, now you may be able to change at command post, but I think you predetermine the loadout although it may not be class sensitive, but that was my impression

So you set your load-outs up for each class before the match, and when you change classes during play, the load-outs swap with them?

Well, if you could change classes on the fly more easily in Battlefield, it would definately promote teamwork. Because if a sniper was bothering your team, you could change to a sniper-class as well, take him out and switch back to your preferred class (or if it was BRINK, the class which is needed the most).

Various loadouts.

So is it as posted earlier: where you have a loadout tied to each class, and swapping to another class also swaps your loadout? Or whilst swapping between classes can you match them up freely with ANY of your various loadouts?

Loadouts are not connected to your classes. Or at least you can have multiple loadouts with every class.

Loadouts as far as abilities, are tied to your class. If you change classes at a command post, your abilities will change as well.
