I think the title says it...
Which one of the two do you advise me to use?

Both. Mlox for sorting mods (load order), and TEStool for cleaning mods and merging objects.

Another handy tool is Wrye Mash - it can merge levelled lists, clean saves and sync them to load list. It is also very useful for removing mods from saves.

To be honest I don't trust TESTool at all, I've previously had it break installs back when I did use it. That, and the source is not available for it, so you can't be entirely sure how it makes decisions for you.

Use Mash to deal with merging leveled lists, Mlox to sort your load order, and TESAME for cleaning entries from a file. TESAME is a more manual approach, but at the very least you should learn how to remove GMST entries with it.

I recommend TESTOOL for cleaning. Although some other functions are suspect, I think you can trust the cleaning function, and it does produce a detailed log (testool.log), so you know what it has done.

i tend to use Enchanted Editor, mlox and Wyre Mash. i have had testool delete unchanged cells though i have also experienced the CS marking unchanged cells as changed so it could be both working against me. i find EE rather easy to use to clean dirty esp's and to remove dependencies.
