[RELz] mlox, a tool for anolyzing and sorting your load orde

Actually updates happening less frequently is an even better reason to have them. As people will check less and less often. Yes I'd like an auto updater pretty please :)

Can it check for database and mlox version updates, as well as automatically download them and install them? Yes, I am that lazy and shiftless.

Okey dokey, I will see about adding an auto-updater in the future. It probably won't happen real soon. But sometime :)

That is a great idea, thanks for doing that. :)

Whilst we're talking about features... :ninja:

How about some kind of mod name aliasing? It's done by a CSV in http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Mash.html#ModNameAliasing. I've a few mods that I've edited and renamed so having the ability to tell mlox about them would stop them appearing in the conflict pane and also add them to the load order rules. Maybe the same file could be used (if there's some kind of IF EXIST check available...)?

Oh, and I've been wanting to use the size predicate. Not sure about the Linux world but when examining file properties in the Windows world there's "size" and "size on disk" I assume that "size" is what I need?

Would it be better to be able to tell mlox to just stop griping about a given warning? For example, maybe you could select a warning in the warning pane, right click and select "Ignore this warning in the future". That might be easier for people to use, although it might not be exactly what you're looking for. In any case, I'll add looking into this for a future version.

Oh Windows .... I had to start up a Windows session to check. Indeed, it appears that "Size" give the actual size in bytes.

Size is the size in bytes
Size on disk is the actual space the file takes up. How much extra depends on cluster size. Cluster size is dependant on partition size and partition size. With ntfs it should be either 2kb or 4kb.

That'd cover warnings for sure, but any renamed plugins won't pick up the suggested ordering rules... I think that people who're editing and renaming plugins would be fairly tech savvy and be able to handle manually editing a CSV file. And if there's one already being used by Mash then it's just a case of reading mlox_data then the CSV and substituting plugin names. See, it's easy when I type it :)

Thought so, thanks for clearing it up. And Yacoby.

Forgive me for double posting but this will be quite a large post.

I discovered a note I made myself to disable "Colony Spriggan Fix.esp" and wondered where that came from. Searching around led me to http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=794715&st=0.

So... some more rules for mlox!

First off, additional rules for the Morrowind Patch Project (I've searched through mlox_base.txt and I'm pretty sure I'm not duplicating, unlike with aedroth's BM Wolf Greaves Fix I posted earlier :embarrass:)
I've added Conflict rules and added to the "big list" of obsoleted plugins

Forgive me for double posting but this will be quite a large post.

Wow! Great stuff. It's possible we might be able to narrow the Notes that refer to 1.6.1820 by checking the size of Bloodmoon.esm. But that is something that I'll check up on later, if I remember.

For now, all the goodness of your big update is in a new release for the rule-base: mlox-data_2009-03-24a.7z
http://code.google.com/p/mlox/downloads/list

Thanks!

Time for some MGE related rules. Asked about these in the MGE thread and consensus was to add them into mlox. I've incremented the version number for harlanrm's plugin and added a new Note. The other two are new.

This means that distant land is always off in interiors, including Mournhold, and that MGE's fog distance changes in response to the weather. If you using 3.6.0 or a later version you should disable harlanrm's "Distant Land Fix for MGE.esp" (Ref: [src="http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/938026-relz-mlox-a-tool-for-analyzing-and-sorting-your-load-order/http://morrgraphext.wiki.sourceforge.net/Change+Log"]http://morrgraphext.wiki.sourceforge.net/Change+Log[/url] )Distant Land Fix for MGE.esp;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; @Distant Land Weather Fix 1.2 [Supernatural][Requires] (Ref: "Distant Land Weather Fix 1.2 - ReadMe.txt")Distant Land Weather Fix.esp[ALL Tribunal.esm Bloodmoon.esm][Note] If you use a version of MGE lower than 3.6.0 it's suggested you use harlanrm's "Distant Land Fix for MGE". Ooops, I noticed today that I had both AscendedSleeperSFX and UUMPPAscendedSleeperSounds activated.

Might want to have a comment about one or the other, but not both, John.

Do not have multiples of quorn's other tweaks, but it might not hurt to check those out, too.

I found AscendedSleeperSFX, but not sure where to find UUMPPAscendedSleeperSounds, is it an obsolete part of a previous release? Just needed to verify the filenames.

I believe you added my MCA "fix" to the list, but it needs to be loaded AFTER Mashed Lists or MCA plugins, because it deletes stuff from these. Mlox doesn't do so currently.

I am fairly sure you shouldn't load anything that modifies leveled lists after the merged lists

It only tells the game to delete the town bandits etc.

It was originally part of UUMPP1.64 (wip) and has been replaced by SFX. If someone just updated from UUMPP to WPP and adds the quorn tweaks they can end up with a repetitive esp as I did. Same could be true for quorn's other UUMPP tweaks.

This is MCAFix.esp? mlox doesn't currently know anything about it yet, but I can add it in for the next update.

This is correct. Nothing should need to load after the mashed lists.

It only tells the game to delete the town bandits etc.

As long as it's the last plugin OTHER THAN MASHED LISTS that changes that list, everything will work fine. So your fix should come after MCA, but still before Mashed Lsits.

? A deletion of a leveled list will be ignored unless the deletion comes from the last mod to modify that list.

I see. I don't have that earlier version so I need to verify the exact filename. Is it "UUMPPAscendedSleeperSounds.esp" (no spaces)?

The two that I still had in my download file are;

UUMPP Ascended Sleeper Sounds Patch v1.6.4.esp replaced by AscendedSleeperSFX.esp and

UUMPP Steel Broadsword Patch v1.6.4.esp replaced by Steel Broadsword Fix BM.esp.
