[RELz] mlox, a tool for anolyzing and sorting your load orde

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:04 pm

Was hoping you hadn't released a new ruleset so soon.
According to mlox's rules:

I have to admit, I found the situation confusing. However, I thought Liztail had cleared it up in http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=921269&view=findpost&p=13470588:
For Slof's you need to enable Slof's Better Beasts Reptile version as well as the New Argonian Bodies (Slof Textures) mod in order to get her heads and my bodies. Her mod needs to load first before mine...

To give people a wider variety of texture choices, I've also added new optional downloads that will let you use Slof's and/or Silaria's textures on my body meshes =) They don't contain any of the files from their mods, so you'll need to download the original mod to make them work, but you do NOT need to enable their ESP files once you have these. They also reference some files in my mod, so here's the full list of what you need:

Always required:

My Unique Shadow Pack mod
A version (Clean or Mature) of my New Beast Bodies 3.0 mod

To use Slof's textures:

Slof's Better Beasts reptile version
Optional Slof texture compatibility patch from my website.

To use Silaria's textures:

Sabregirl's Better Bodies for Argonians (a BB version of Silaria's original textures)
Optional Silaria texture compatibility patch from my website.

The compatibility patches come with separate ESP files for each race, and and are made in a way that you can switch each race's texture individually by checking and un-checking ESP files in the Data Files section of the Morrowind Launcher.

In the updated (3.2) release thread directly after that one, Liz points out its no longer needed.

Edit: And also in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954528&st=0&p=13789360&#entry13788785.

Ah, I see, I did miss that, thanks. I'll address this in the next update!

Plugin description,
These are the official plugins made by Bethesda Softworks in one handy .esp!

Note: These plugins were created by Bethesda Softworks, I just combined them.

EDIT: Steel Broadsword fix is actually up to 1.2

[CONFLICT] > 'Clean Official Plugins v1.1.esp' > 'bcsounds.esp'

This conflict is telling you that bcsounds is included in "Clean Official Plugins", if, as mlox thinks, that mod includes all the official plugins. So you don't need to also load bcsounds (unless we got our information wrong).

EDIT: Steel Broadsword fix is actually up to 1.2

Thanks, I'll include that in the next update!

Erm... I tried to use this program, so I d/led it and installed it... but upon using it, it just went from a DOS box, popped the program up immediately after for a brief second, then closed without any error notification whatsoever. It had some text listed on the program, but it closed much too fast for me to read it.

Did you install the .exe version?

I installed the python version, since I had those requirements fulfilled already thanks to Mash. When that didn't work, I tried the .exe version, and got the same result.

Dunno about the EXE version. What version of Python have you got? Have you tried running "mlox.bat" (it assumes an install of c:\python25\python)?

I have Python25 installed.

EDIT: I've tried running the .bat file, but like the other instances, it did the same thing. Immediately closed upon running.

What are the contents of your mlox.err file? (It's just a simple text file).

Don't know. My computer isn't reading it like a .txt file, and thus doesn't know how to open it.

wxPython Version: 2.8.0.1

That's the problem, you don't have the version of wxPython installed that mlox needs. As the Readme says, mlox needs 2.8.7.1.
If you run the .exe version, you should not have this problem.

Alright, well, its working now, though the .exe version wasn't working before. However, I must ask this:

Why is it that making a shortcut for the program doesn't work? I had it pinned to the start menu, but it pops up an error when I try. The log says this:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "mlox.py", line 252, in <module> File "mlox.py", line 250, in load_translations File "codecs.pyo", line 817, in openIOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'mlox.msg'Traceback (most recent call last): File "mlox.py", line 252, in <module> File "mlox.py", line 250, in load_translations File "codecs.pyo", line 817, in openIOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'mlox.msg'

This error will happen if you run the mlox application outside the mlox directory. It needs to have the "current directory" be the mlox directory so it can find its resource files, like mlox.msg. I think you can tell the shortcut which directory to run in, and changing that would probably fix that error.

What a helpful program--didn't realize so many of my mods had updated versions. And although I knew there were conflicts (NPCs strolling on the ocean floor and trees hanging in mid air) couldn't figure out the mods involved until mlox. And it's so user friendly. Many Thanks.

Mlox is telling me that for Morrowind Complete, I should only have one of the two .esps running: Either the normal version, or the Replacer version. Not both. However, trying to run it with only the Replacer version gives me a ton of missing file errors. What's going on? Also, some of the other conflicts its warning me about won't go away, even after I follow its instructions to take care of the conflicts.

I think that perhaps mlox is wrong about this one, and the replacer should be activated in addition to the normal version. I'll address this in the next release of the rule-base.

Also, some of the other conflicts its warning me about won't go away, even after I follow its instructions to take care of the conflicts.

Would it be possible to paste in the output from mlox for those conflicts?

Here's the list. The last one, concerning the MPP, isn't one I'm concerned about. The mods I have concerning that don't cause problems, and so far, the MPP only further destroys my game for whatever reason. So just ignore it.

The message about AV_female_armor.esp is telling you that it requires the LeFemm Armor plugin, in one of its forms. You don't have any of them that mlox is aware of. The solution would be to install the one that appeals to you. If you have the LeFemm Armor from some other plugin, let me know, and I'll look into making mlox aware of it.

The message about MWE is there because mlox notices you have some MWE mods installed, however mlox does not have the ability to test for the version of MWE, so it's not possible to tell if the warning is superfluous.

I had the latest version of LaFemm Armor downloaded last night, and I turned it on. Checking now, however, it got turned off again. I don't know how, but its back on again, and the error's gone. Thanks for the help.

I noted a few things while working on my mod list, I hope some information is valuable so that the base rules can be updated.

*Better Clothes
There is a patch for BC by Keazen: BetterClothes_Patch.esp, at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6764
When merging the objects of all mods including the patch for BC and BC itself with Testool, the changes by the patch did not show up in-game. Therefore, I left them out of the objects merge.

*Area effect arrows AreaEffectArrows.esp
*Bitter coast sounds bcsounds.esp
*Ebartifact EBQ_Artifact.esp
*Entertainers entertainers.esp
*Masterindex master_index.esp
Need GMST cleaning.

*Abandoned Well at Dagon Fel
There is an updated version but it is not on PES: DagonFel_Well_v2.esp on http://www.angelfire.com/folk/joesfaithweb/Morrowind.htm
The old version is DagonFel_Well.esp .

*Graphic Herbalism "Graphic Herbalism.esp"
Conflicts with Resources Enhanced "Resources enhanced.esp", e.g. both mod kollops.

*Wrye's patches "Wrye Patches xy.esp" where xy = {A, A1, B, C, C1, G, M, M1, W}
Should load after other mods, because they change the names of objects that might be edited by other mods.
