Mod Advice--Low End PC

Post » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:30 am

Hello, I have limited internet access (1-2 weeks) and it's been a slow process trying to improve vanilla through mods. My PC has some limitations and I am hoping to get some advice on which types of mods I should avoid.

My system is very old, but I won't be able to upgrade anytime soon. Any advice will be much appreciated.

AMD 2.8Ghz

2gigs

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT

Below I list some mods that I am using currently, though since I've installed them, I have run into some serious lag in Whiterun and Falkreath that I didn't experience with Vanilla. Sometimes several seconds, it's excruciating.

If you know of any mods that might help with the lag or that will enhance gameplay without causing more, I'd love to get hear about it. These have vastly improved the game over Vanilla already, but I'm sure there's plenty of gems I'm missing.

Better Dialogue
Better Message Box Controls
CCFM
character creation overhaul
Dodge Mod
Duel Combat
No Sneak Attack Sound
Optimizer Textures
Random Alternate Start
Skyrim Hyper Performance Boost
SKY UI
TK Hitstop & Recoil

I'm sorry but with that prehistoric relic you will not really be able to add any of the good mods, especially if you are already experiencing serious lag with just those mods. If I were you, I would uninstall every mod you have and enable them one by one, testing the game each time to see which is causing your lag issue.

For mods, basically avoid anything that adds heavy scripts and avoid graphic enhancing mods. There is only so much you can do when you barely reach the minimum game requirements. I'm actually amazed you can run the game with a 2600 XT. Isn't that a 256 mb card? If so it doesn't even reach the minimum requirements.

Thanks, I will try to find out which mods. I'm not sure what you mean by script heavy though. Could you describe them for me please?

2600 XT is .5g :/
