[Xbox One] Mod capacity continuing to shrink.

Post » Sat Dec 24, 2016 11:42 am

So a lot of you have probably heard a few cases where people could only download 4.5gb or 4.6gb worth of mods instead of 5gb. My situation however is getting much worse. I now have about 1.7gb of unusable space and it seems every new mod has a bigger and bigger chance of adding to the unusable memory. I know two solutions that people will immediately want to post so I'll go ahead and counter those. 1. stop downloading new mods. Seriously? Mods are the only reason I still play this game after atleast 2,000 hours, I need new content once in a while. 2. Manually erase the entire mod folder in xbox settings. I just can't do this, my current characters depends on quite a few mods that were removed from bethesda.net for various reasons. I will admit some of them deserved to be removed, but I simply cannot start over once again like I have had to so many times during the "disappearing npcs" pandemic. I'm done doing the first 6-12 hours of content. Now if anyone has another suggestion, I welcome it with open arms and appreciate any advice.

At least you get more than 1 gb. PS4 still stuck in the [censored] dark ages.

Then again, not like there is over 1 gb of mods that are worth downloading (no fault of the modders).

You know even with PC's their is a limit to what can be used, you know the limit with an x-box1...so.

The only thing I can think of is an external drive, USB etc and download all the mod's to that. As I don't play on a xB1 I am not sure if that will work, but it's worth a try.

Areial this is not a matter of space itself, its unusable space. I should have 5gb but I have 3.3gb instead.

What I'm saying is that sometimes when I delete a mod, I don't get the space back. It says that I gain space, but I dont. For example, I currently have 1.72gb remaining but when I try to download a 100mb mod, I am told I do not have enough free memory.

I've read that clearing your download cache is the solution. I don't know anything about XBoxes but it would make sense that the system has a bunch of leftover downloaded data that would need to be cleared out.

clear the reserved space for skyrim, this will remove all your mods and give you the 5 gb space again, your mods will still be in the library, so you can download them again.

Looks like there isn't a good option. Sorry.

I am surprised you've managed to fill that up though.. I play on both XOne and PC and wouldn't get close to 5GB on either. But I'm pretty conservative. I like mods, but more of the Vanilla + variety. I don't even know what's available on Xbox that I'd want to fill anyways. Not much there. And I don't want to bother with the big texture mods because the platform will begin to struggle with some of them.

yes and no... Your usable space is shrinking... IF you've downloaded the mods.. can you not put them on a USB ? or over to an external hard drive.. kinda a waste, but transfer over all the mods and removed it.. clear the cashe and reserve space and then when you want to, put the external drive back in and you have those mod's you can't get otherwise.

I believe it happened because I play through many of the large quest mods that come through, skyrims age means there are many mods like this. things like mharphim, the lost city, clockwork. i try to play through them all but not on the same character when a conflict is possible.Sometimes i do it just for the story and revert to my previous save before deleting. If i can move the mods to an external device I'll give that a try once I get a decent usb, 5gb+ should be like $10, thanks.

I kinda do the same thing, I like quest mods..Love Clockwork.. Northern Encounters is my favorite... mostly cause you don't have to follow the "main quest" of it.. but can explore the new dungeon's and stuff. But being on PC.. all I have to worry about size wise is getting a bottle neck ...which I have done... Why I put in my "regular" mods, then add new ones on a test character...

I have a feeling it is because of those mods that are no longer active that you are having this issue. Possibly those mods might not be properly tracked since bethnet says they do not exist but you still have it downloaded so the system is lowering the limit.

Well if Quest mods are your thing, then I would suggest Trainwiz's mods while you're at it. I know Wheels of Lull is on Xbox. He needs to bring World Eater Beater to it though.

edit: Yes! That's my answer. More mods.... not less. B)

Wheel's of Lull... I had that tracked with my old sign-on and missed it...and a lot of the mod's I had planned for my Dwemer Scholar. I am not ready for her yet.. but it will be good to keep it in mind again.

I do like me some trainwhiz mods, and the man himself for standing up to the more pompous authors (but lets not get into that second bit)

Some people had this problem with Fallout 4 and someone found a solution for it and made a video on YouTube. The same solution might work for Skyrim too.
