Mod concept: custom skill treeleveling system

Post » Wed Sep 04, 2013 11:09 am

This is just a concept for a mod I think could be really cool in that it could, if doable, allow for a completely custom skill/leveling system that would also maybe allow modders to add entirely new skill trees to the game.

The whole idea really came from seeing what expired6978 managed to do with v4 of Extensible Follower Framework, I believe, using the SkyUI widget framework. The ability to add custom menus that don't require you to pause the game and go in to a mcm menu is pretty awesome, I think. So yeah, here is a link to a very poorly done (in paint lol) concept of what such a system might look like: http://i.imgur.com/39t1Ibz.png

Please consider that I most certainly do not have the skills to actually make this (I can maybe do a bit of 3D modeling) so this thread is more about getting the idea out there to hopefully inspire someone a lot more talented than I am and also to create some discussion on whether something like this is even possible and how one might best go about doing it.

Anyway, what do you folks think about this? Is it doable? Also sorry if this or something like this has already been suggested.

This looks doable with SkyUI's MCM system. But I don't think it is entirely possible to ditch the vanilla skill tree since a lot of gameplay is tied to it.
