[REQ] Mod Concept - Realistic Pickpocketing for NPCs

Request:

Realistic Pickpocketing for NPCs

Concept:

Can be made to use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1116560-relz-realistic-sneak-for-npcs/ sneak function so they can sneak and perform a PP.

RPP will have these relations vs PC and NPC:

o -PC level vs NPC level checks

o -PC Security vs NPC Security and/or Sneak checks. Just how "Secure" is the PC's inventory vs the NPC's skills? This can be modified with checks for "gold is an inventory item" mods (Reneer, Kuertee), with the assumption that in a backpack/sack (Kuertee's "Inventory is a Backpack, Side777's "Side's Backpacks", Storage Sacks, etc) is more secure than in your "inventory"; inventory assumed to be somewhere outside on your person, such as a coin pouch. This makes using these other mods even more useful.

o Immersive, 1st/2nd/3rd-person text for the PC to detect a PP attempt with a check for location of PC such as being in a bustling marketplace/waterfront = negative modifier to detection assuming brushes by many NPCs shopping/working.

? “The air is alive with the hustle and bustle of shoppers (workers) brushing and bumping into each other.” (negative modifier in a shopping/work area)
? “People really need to watch where they are going…” (A possible pp attempt…but maybe not…immersive message that can be both for actual near-detection and to throw the PC off).
? “You feel a tug at your pouch/purse strings” (old style message I remember from another game that I can’t remember; low PP detection!...or not…? Does not outright reveal NPC if actual NPC attempt. Perhaps using RS for NPCs, lowers the NPC’s sneak like using the dynamic sneak function, thus making the NPC easier to see if said mod is in use)
? “STOP! THIEF!” (critical PP failure on the part of the NPC; you also receive a message that a small/medium/large amount of gold or the misc item – not exact amount since how can you know? – has been pilfered from you and the NPC’s name. NPC is now subject to arrest while inside/near city/guards; compatibility with RGO/SM Bounty?); NPC sneak (if basing off of Realistic Sneak) is removed, revealing the culprit (maybe have a temporary shader outline them).

o What happens on NPC success/failure:

? Success – timed delay after the fact with an immersive message, “That’s strange. My load seems a bit lighter…” You then receive a message of how much or what items are missing. Too bad, so sad. This can be adjustable in an ini file. It can also be based off a % of PC level so low level characters are not completely stripped vs if using a straight-amount (kuertee’s Alternative to Death and Reload’s default settings makes 500 gold chance taken from you. That strips someone completely if at <500 gold on your person.)

? Failure – NPC subject to the law. If you take the law into your own hands while in a city, you will be subject to fines/imprisonment yourself. Perhaps have a “reverse NPC dialogue” that pops up where you can converse with the NPC. You can turn around and demand your money (maybe even have an option in ini to allow for low-weight loot clutter) back or face the consequences (once again if in city see next point…). You can summon a guard to arrest the NPC. Checks will be made vs PC and NPC level, disposition, confidence, etc. If you are big, bad, and scary enough the NPC will be more inclined to return it. If they think they have a chance to run (their speed/agi/confidence/responsibility/etc) they will try, or if they think they are strong enough, they will fight.

o NPCs will have a better chance if not in front of the PC (negative modifier for NPC). Watch your back!

o Perhaps can add mod-specific NPCs in addition for this so that regular NPCs are not constantly affected.

I hope this is enough concept foundation for someone well-skilled in modding with scripts, graphics, OBSE, whatever to build upon. This looks so much better in Word 2007...

STOP!!! YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW!!! PAY THE COURT A FINE AND YOU WON'T GET HURT!!!

Heh. That seemed appropriate for some reason.

I like this concept though. Perhaps with a little luck and a lot of generosity, you might see it made. It would certainly be a fine addition to the list of mods that add to player-npc interaction.
