Mod Crashing Help! Plz

Post » Wed Nov 09, 2016 10:51 am

Hi. So first off, I am playing on XBox One and have the SE edition. I have never used mods before and am fairly new to them. After installing some, I fell in love with all that they have to offer. The game worked great without Mods and never crashed. As I mentioned, I installed some and it still worked great. I then installed some more and now it crashes whenever I am around Windhelm. The way I have been testing it is with the Alternate Start Mod and choosing property owner and travelling to Windhelm. The game crashes before it even brings up the loading screen to take me there after I sleep on the bed in the prison. The two mods I suspected were the culprits are not (Static mesh and Open Skyrim) because I was able to travel to Windhelm and into my home. I found this out by turning all mods off except for those two and Alternate endings. Alternate Endings became my constant so I could quickly travel to Windhelm. My next project will be to individually turn one mod on at a time until I find the one that is initiating the crash. BUT before I do that, I thought perhaps I could post the mods I have installed in their load order from top to bottom to see if you lovely people could spot the error and save me countless hours. Thanks!

As a start, check whether Ture Storms and Climates of Tamriel are compatible. I have a feeling that they are not. You have Open Cities, which I think affects the outskirts of cities, but then you also have Realistic Water 2. In this case Realistic Water 2 should therefore come after anything which affects places near water, so I think that might need moving down your load order so it is below Open Cities. Seraphim has been known to cause crashes - if you are going to test it out, start by disabling that and see if it fixes it.

Some mods, even when disabled, leave some lingering code around, so make sure to run the mod that returns it to vanilla before restarting your mods and starting your new play through, in case something is still there from previously deleted mods. Finally, you don't need to turn on and off each mod at a time to troubleshoot it - that would take all day! When you troubleshoot, start off by turning off all mods and trying it, then turn on the first, say, 10 mods. If it breaks, you know it is one of those 10. Keep then turning on 10 or so mods at a time Andy when it eventually breaks you then only have 10 mods to try (which you can further break down by turning 5 of those off and seeing if it breaks, etc.). This will make your troubleshooting epsession go from 2 hours to about 30 minutes. I hope this has helped!
