Mod Detectives XXVI, Tracking down hard to find mods

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:25 pm

Also that mod that adds "Make love" to the topics of NPCs that like you (or at least I think they have to like you).

Could also be http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=295. It's an order you join, and you get that topic with all NPCs; whether they take you up on it or not has to do with disposition, rank, and such. This should be a safe link, since although the content is mature, there's nothing mature in the description and no screenshots.

I don't know if thats the right thread for what I'm about to ask but I'll do it anyway:

No, this is not the right place. This is for finding specific mods you already know exist.

Is there a mod out there letting the clothes I'm wearing have an influence on peoples opinion on me? I'm thinking in the direction of wearing extravagant clothes gives a little boost (e.g. about 3-5 points) in disposition when I'm talking to people in rich areas and vice versa, letting disposition drop in rather shady areas.
For example, people in the Council Club in Ald Rhun will look down on me when I'm talking to them in common pants and shirt, but are going to react more favorably when I wear exqisite Robes/shirts. On the other hand, the Rat Scar Inn, isn't such a nobles club, therefore I would rather be out of place entering it all dressed up. So I would get a little drop in disposition being all dressed up.
The point is, wearing expensive stuff shouldn't let all people look more favourable on me, but let it depend on there own social background.

You'd look out of place, but I don't think their disposition should drop. If your in a seedy club, and some rich looking guy comes in you might think he's somehow snooty or flaunting his wealth in front of you, but theres a good chance you'll still be more polite to him to his face... if only to take advantage of him later. Add to it that a lot of rich nobles in MW might wield actual political power and I don't see why even the peasants wouldn't want to be on your good side. In the real world a rich guy is usually just another guy. In Morrowind they're actually important and should probably be treated as such by the majority of the population even if it's in an ingratiating manner.

Hi there.

I'm looking for some specific mesh. It was, if i recall corectly, a huge floating island covered with grass.

Is this description clear and precise enough? ;)

Edit: I found one in Magus Realm, however i wonder if there are other like that one?

Do you mean http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/redwoodtreesprite/LandMeshes/Islands/AcidBasik/float_islands.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/redwoodtreesprite/LandMeshes/Islands/AcidBasik/Acd_lg_float_island05-Top.jpg?

If so, they're available at http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=4228

They look similar, if not identical to those used in Magus Realm. However, I'm not sure and will have to look closer, so big thanks for those, Karpik!

Somehow I had a feeling I would get that answer, but I didn't want to open another new "does this mod exist thread".

Not all (poor) people in Morrowind care about politics or act rational and nore are they always in pubs to discuss buissnes. Some of them actualy want to enjoy a drink or two (or more) and hang out in a place with an nice atmosphere and cool people around them -at least thats how I feel about the game.
Imagine being in some kind of Rocker-Club and suddenly a poshy (is that a real word? do I use it correcty?) law-student enters the room. First thing you do is thinking "wtf? What will this guy here?" Probably, your disposition will change after talking with him, drinking a few drinks etc - or getting for the worse and starting a barfight :-).
Changing the disposition during the night is already covered through the "admiring" function, as well as those npc-enhancers like "NPC-Functionality".

And even if I'm a rich and powerfull guy going down visiting the local thieves guild tavern, I wouldn't want to be recognised as a rich guy and probably try to blend in with the people in there. Therefore masking myself with common clothes, which might let the lower strade think I'm one of them. But guessing by your answer this hasn't been done yet anyway.
So, sorry again for hijacking this thread :-)

In this case, you really should. :) I am 99.9% certain that a mod like this exists, and as I remember, there's more than one variation. I can not for the life of me remember what it is called, however, and it's possible that some of what you want is done with various patches (at least one of which, I believe, affects responses and dispositions as they relate to the value of your clothing), so you'll probably get a more complete response in a new thread.

Ooops I went off an a rant and forgot to answer your original question. lol. Sorry about that. No, though, I don't think there has been any such mod. I'm not even sure it's entirely feasible as how would you determine an NPC's social status? Afaik we can't detect what an NPC is wearing so clothing's out. I suppose just using the Commoner class would work but would leave out a good number of people who should according to your view be affected. Sorry for being so unhelpful!

That would only work when they comment on your clothing (which is way down on the dialogue filtering list) and would be across-the-board for all NPCs which is not what he's asking for. He wants NPCs of different social standing to give disposition responses, which afaik has not been done.

Anywho, I didn't mean to continue this threadjacking. Sorry.

I cannot come up with a name or a copy at the moment but I also seem to recall a mod or possibly a WIP like this, Lyssia.

Boggart, I would open a new thread as suggested.

Ooo, I've got one to try to find... there was a mod that allowed you to desecrate temples, and once you'd trashed them you could pray and receive healing after making sacrifices. I could be wrong on some specifics, it was a while ago I saw the mod. May have been related to a 6th house mod of some kind? Any ideas?

I remember this too, for all the good that does as I can't seem to find it hidden away. I'm fairly certain the mechanic was a script attached the vanilla clothing.

Does anyone have a copy (or know where to get one) of MP Canus' "Improved Blizzard Sound Effect" mod? It is listed on http://www.mwmythicmods.com/realism.htm, but the link is broken and google/ES Search have turned up no useful results for me.

No ideas anyone? Oh well, long shot anyway.

Here's another one... there was a mod that added an underwater domed city and water nymphs as a race. The city was called Balicuma.

The only reference I can really find on Google is this page: http://www.freewebs.com/black_shark_64/downloads.htm

The site is still there but its download link is dead.

A general comment for those requesting assistance in finding a mod ...

First, see Post #1 - know what you are looking for. This is not a general enquiries thread. If you want to know if such-and-such type of mod even exists, ask in a new thread, not this one.

Secondly, exhaust your own Search possibilities before asking here. That includes checking the larger public mod download sites, following the excellent guidance in Psyringe's http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=723543&view=findpost&p=10447220 and thoroughly checking both of the following excellent tools that have recently become available to the community:

Yacoby's http://search.yacoby.net/

Fliggerty's http://modhistory.fliggerty.com/rwdownload/index.php

Folk have gone to considerable trouble to make those tools and resources available to the mod using community. Frankly, if you cannot be troubled to use them, I cannot see why any of the rest of us would wish to assist you. And it seems to me that requests for assistance to find readily available mods are reaching 'epic' proportions.

/rant ;)

Thanks for your help! In my defense, I did search quite a bit for this mod... I didn't even know Fliggertys History thing existed, and the mod is under a completely different name than I thought it would be. Sorry if I upset you  and thanks again!

You are very welcome, bloo. Glad you found what you were looking for and I too discovered a 'new' mod.
Not upset; life is far too short. ;) And my comments were not pointed at you personally.

The main point is that both ES Search and Morrowind Modding History are fairly new tools of which some folk are not aware. So they don't get used. By pointing them out we can hope to encourage folk to do their own search first. That's all. :)

Thanks Ronin, I'm glad someone has kept their mod collection intact through all the years. My own collection perished with my hard drive a short time ago so I'm starting from scratch.

Ok, I have one- I lost my old mod list, but I played a mod that added a random quest where you needed to cure a trader's sick guar around the vos area. In return, he would sell you all sorts of ashlander items that you can't normally get al all, like the wind chimes in the camps etc. I don't think at the time I knew for sure which mod added this. It probably wasn't LGNPC because I'm using those now and the quest isn't there. It might be MCA, but I didn't think it added any quests. Does anyone know? This was a nice little gem I thought, but I don't know which mod it comes with. Anyone know? Thanks.

This was part of v2.0 (IIRC) of ManaUser's http://webpages.charter.net/manauser/morrowind/ mod. It's since been updated to 3.0, but with the quests removed, unfortunately. Last I heard ManaUser was planning on putting the quests back in at some point (with some updates?), but I haven't heard anything about it since.

Maybe somebody here has the 2.0 version hiding on a hardrive somewhere?
