I am not sure why you are asking us. Why the hell would we know? :P

No one has any concrete info on the game except for its name and the release date. Also. There are other threads like this.

Well in that case, yeah, there'll be a construction set of some kind. It's as good of any guess that you could give.

I'm guessing there'd be a construction set...it's kind of a huge thing for their PC community.

Pretty sure there will be one. How else would Bethesda continue to know what they could have be done better?

recently bethesda has been taking to making fantastic plot lines, streamlining their games by removing stuff, promising people fantastic things, giving us nice optimised engines and good voice acting!!!!

they can't be morons when they treat us this good and work so hard.

I do not agree with the "fantastic plot lines"... O plot was mediocre, but then it is just opinion here and there..

To the OP, mods expand the gaming universe free of cost to the devs + allows the community to take an active part by fixing things they know the community can fix (and thus rid them of a few zots) and that they'll be happy to provide customisation (firearms for those who want, dual-wield, thongs, etc....).

Here is what I think:

I recall there being licensing issues with Fallout's GECK and we almost didn't get it. So, since this engine is built in-house, completely by Bethesda, there shouldn't be any licensing issues with the CS itself, though it may be restricted with third party software (Speed Tree, etc.) as it was for Oblivion. But hopefully they've learned and can actually give us a functioning piece of software so people can adequately fix any mistakes they've made :P

And, as has been said, Bethesda is not stupid. They realize that Morrowind wouldn't still be on the shelves without the CS. Neither would Oblivion. Mods expand the shelf life of games, it's a fact. So unless Bethesda plans on shooting themselves in the foot, there should be a CS. Thought it may be more complex than what everyone is used to, depending on this new engine.

Community support has been one of the biggest support-legs of the TES series for some time now, eliminating that would be a direct comparison to a man amputating one of their legs off, its stupid, idiotic and can only lead to more problems.

Concurred. I simply would not buy the game if it didn't have a Construction Set. I'd much rather suffer through Oblivion another six years until ESVI.

lol XD

Pretty much what they do is give us a version of the program they used to build the game. So considering how much they talk about and appreciate the modding community I'm sure they'll be handing out for Skyrim as well. Just check the BethBlog to see how much they praise the modding community.

I think the very worst case scenario is a Blizzard-like takeover of modding, such that you can only publish through Bethesda and everything must be approved by Bethesda's policy, doubtlessly crafted by lawyers. That would really hurt modding. Apple-like iron fisted control would be bad too.

I don't think that will happen, but I think it's the worst that would. I can't imagine them stopping mods entirely.

Agree.

No C.S. would be an immense mistake. Sure they'll still sell millions of copies of the game, but they'll loose most the community that has supported the franchise for years. Instead of having a good rep for supporting their community, Bethesda will get a bad rep for booting it.

The modding tools are not something special they develop for the PC community. It is the exact same tool they developed in-house to help them build the game. It's just re-released for the modding community, typically untouched.

For this reason, giving us the CS is trivial. The biggest thing holding it back would be licensing issues. We almost didn't get the Oblivion CS because of licensing issues with some of the middleware.

I really hope so. Bethesda usually make me buy 2 games from them with the amount of modability that Elder Scrolls and Fallout have.

Before anyone asks, I usually buy the console versions first. Then the PC versions later. Why do I do this? Because upgrading my PC can be an expensive hobby, and I usually have to save up first before upgrading it. Waiting a day after release date for an Elder Scrolls game would spell insanity for me. XD
