I'm thinking of getting fallout 3 for PC after playing it on 360 and getting about 350 hours but i want to know how you actually put mods in the game cos it seems kinda hard, do you just download it from the nexus then just put it in the fallout 3 folder? and can you give me some tips on putting mods in like don't have more than three and can you recommend me some mods? many thanks

First I will say it is well worth it to switch from the counsel to the PC.

Next there are a couple ways to instal mods, It's not all that hare ether way. One way is to simply move the appropriate files from the download into you games Data folder. The next requires FOMM "Fallout mod manager" if the download is set up properly you can use it's package manager to install. I recommend getting in the habit of using it. It makes it much easier to remove mods if you personally don't like them or, are simply done with them. It has many other useful features like giving you the ability to manage your load order to avoid conflicts.

You'll also need it's toggle invalidation to get custom textures to work.

Most mods also come with a 'readme' text file that contain the installation instructions, amongst other things.

Once you've done it a couple of times it's not very difficult. :)

Get and use FOMM from the start. It makes backup copies of anything it replaces, handles the install/uninstall of the ESP/ESM files and also updates the Fallout INI file to insert the ESM/ESP files into your load order.

Which saves a lot of time down the road when you want to uninstall a texture replacer mod that you end up not liking.

FOMM has just been updated today aswell, amongst other things the auto sort of your load order now is correctly linked to BOSS-F masterlist to update itself... so you dont need to install BOSS-F either. Probably talking gibberish to you at such an early stage but heres the link for FOMM on tesnexus http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640

Current development thread is here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1086714-relz-fallout-mod-manager/
