Does one exist? The one thing that still keeps me from using horses ingame is that they can't walk backwards. It drives me nuts. No other game I've played with horses or mounts has this kind of movement. It turns in a circle instead of walking backwards? Wtf. It should behave the way the player's character does - walk forward, turn left, turn right, walk backward, but no strafing.

Horse aggression is now solved by mods, but I'm guessing horse movement is not? If a mod exists I can't find it. Not being able to walk backwards is enough to make me never mount a horse, ever.

i agree.. we need beth to fix the horses, oblivion they moved backwards.. countless times i've tried to turn around but my horse would rather dive of a rock and kill me -.-

You can get the horse to move backwards albeit rather slowly. Hitting jump while standing still will make it rear up and take a few steps backwards.

That said I'd like to see a mod allowing for proper backing up.

Actually its more realistic that they dont back up. It's against many animals natures to back up. A horse can be trained to do so, but depending on the trainer and the horse in question, it can take a very very long time to train one to do so.

This is a case where I'd prefer suspending reality. Like I said, every other game I've played with horses or mounts allows backing up and universal movement controls; they don't differ much.

i found something strange. I have the horses for followers mod and the Move It! mod that makes companions back away from you when you face them for a small amount of time if your really close to them. I faced Lydia for a few seconds when we were on horseback and she made her horse walk backwards away from me. Perhapse the animation is there, it just needs to be made usable in the controls.
