(mod request) Spell timer

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 1:07 pm

I've looked to no avail for a mod that'll show in the corner of the screen ala Oblivion style spell duration. cause it's hard when in the middle of a battle to notice if you have your oak flesh or stone skin up or not.

so here is what I'm looking for in said mod.

1) an icon of sorts representing the spell. Be it the book or spell effect shown when looking thru the magic menu
2) duration left made in real time
3) spells only, no blessings.
Bonus) Potions with durations would be nice as well. using a generic potion bottle to represent the potion.

I support this much needed idea. Skyrim has been amazing, but like... The only reason I'm not devastated by no caster bar is... Because Skyrim has done so well otherwise. If Skyrim hadn't come out as such a good game, I would have been appalled that they seriously forgot to add a spell timer to Skyrim. While under normal circumstances I'd be worried about Bethesda, since Skyrim came out so well though Bethesda is forgiven for this massive mistake in this case. I'll just view it as "They were so distracted with the other extremely important stuff, this is one of those little things they forgot".

That said, I also made a thread about this same thing once. This is extremely needed. I summon creatures to make sure I don't get ambushed all alone while exploring in first person, and that summon can vanish any second without me knowing, so I either have to go into third person every few seconds, or resummon without knowing how long it's been. Same for armor spells especially, cause increase armor spells aren't very visible.

I'd like it on MOST spells.

It'd go haywire on the Thrall spells, though.

Take a look at them in the menu when they're active.

Something like 40k+ hour duration.

I agree, this would be useful. Perhaps if not a timer, just a message pops up saying "[spell name] wore off." so you know when your armour or summon disappears. (obviously you don't want this for every spell, but most timed ones on self, or perhaps only the unclear ones.)
