Mod suggestions for a picky mod-user

Post » Sat Oct 02, 2010 4:00 am

If you're like me, :intergalactic: you hate Better Bodies, Better Heads, MGE, and anything that requires/uses those mods.

If you're not like me, :run: :jammasterjay: :dmc: leave now, because you likely don't have any mods I'd be interested in, less they don't use these.

If you are like me, what do you use? I'm interested in finding more companion/relationship mods and visual mods that don't require these annoying mods I don't like to use. And before you ask why I don't like them...

Better Bodies/Heads: The heads are rediculously ugly (Most of the mer ones anyway), and the skins don't match with the bodies. Better Bodies clips with pretty much any armor I can find, and better clothes doesn't fix the problem.

MGE: Lags me. Bad. Even with lowest settings, it lags me bad. No thanks.

Best advice, start looking through http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.List for mods that interest you.
You have very specific criteria for mods, so why should we do all the work for you when you know exactly what you want?

I see a companion visual mod I like, I see a screenshot/I test it and find it uses better heads or looks wonky without MGE, and pitch it.

I'm not asking you to look through for me, I'm asking if you, yourself use any mods that I'd be interested in.

These three mods are very close to vanilla, while still adding new game-play aspects and hours of questing:
Morrowind Crafting
Necessities of Morrowind
LGNPC Project

You might get answers if you describe the specific mods that you already really enjoy now.

Tamriel Rebuilt would have to be the biggest one, as well as the new head additions that still match up nicely with the vanilla bodies.

Head/Hair replacers that do that would be great.

I also use Animated Morrowind, which keeps the natural look without adding better headed-NPCs like MCA does.

All my other mods don't add NPCs to any major extent though.

Clipping/gaping is still an issue, but it was in vanilla Morrowind as well (depending on the clothing/armour) to some degree. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=5891 may or may not be fitted to Better Bodies' mesh; I think they are but I can't remember for sure.

Pretty much all of the heads look the same in some way or another. Doesn't intrest me.

The main thing that bothers me about better bodies is that the clothing and armor in morrowind was MADE and FIT for the vanilla bodies. It's like fitting a suit for a life-sized crash dummy and attempting to put it on.

Until I find a body/clothing/armor replacer that replaces 100% EVERYTHING, I'm not interested. It's little things that bother me constantly to the point of insanity. :ahhh:

Do what basically everyone else does... If the mod you want doesn't exist, start making it yourself.
Much better than hearing you complain in every thread that you can.

I don't think you realize how much your negativity affects people.

Anyway, I don't know how to mod, model, texture, or script. If you don't like to hear me complain, quit telling me to get mods that involve mods that I've already said I don't like.

And I thought I was picky. :P

I quite like the heads from the pluginless head replacer Vvardenfell Visages.

The mod is pluginless, so you could extract just the nord heads. I think the file names/folders should be clear enough.

That's the point I'm trying to make about your statements.
You dis so many mods, when in fact they are great mods that people worked very hard to make.
If you don't like something, just keep the bad comments to yourself.

I apologize if I was rude with you. It was not my intention to offend you, but actually to inspire you to learn modding yourself. Once you mod the game it becomes a personal experience each time you play and see your work. :foodndrink:

It's better than vanilla where there's only like five heads for each race that are extremely low quality.

The main thing that bothers me about better bodies is that the clothing and armor in morrowind was MADE and FIT for the vanilla bodies. It's like fitting a suit for a life-sized crash dummy and attempting to put it on.

Who cares? It's not like you can see the bodies under your armor.

And really, what kind of response were you expecting here when your first post said better bodies/better heads were ugly?

I'm not saying they're bad mods, I just don't like them personally. I can't stand the lag MGE gives off, but Povu's screenshots are beautiful. While better bodies/heads are quite nicely designed, I don't like all my women looking like supermodels.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Better heads doesn't make the vanilla heads high quality, it redesigns them. Part of the reason why I like Darknut's retextures. He keeps the original textures, but ups their quality.

Over exaggeration much?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah but that doesn't mean you can just call someones hard work "ugly".

I've never used Better Heads, if you don't want redesigned, try Vvarderfell Visages, they stay very close to Vanilla. But I wouldn't expect you to look past the fact they look slightly better than vanilla, cause I guess you're turned off by quality.

Sometimes ugly is good. I like that orcs are ugly, and a retextured bonewalker can't look pretty. Perhaps it was a little negative, but I'm just getting a point across.

And I've already told Povu I like the nord heads in V Visages. I'll still try them all to see if there are others I like. I'm NOT turned off by quality. I'm turned off by quality looking bad with low quality.

Well, you're the picky one, acting like we should care that you don't like almost everything out there. Whoopdie-doo.
I don't think you realize how much your mod bashing is affecting the amount of responses you could have had in this senseless thread.
So you're picky, not easily impressed, and conveniently you don't know how to do anything for yourself. Yay!

No, not really.
Whatever dude, make your own bodies mod.

I'm turned off by quality looking bad with low quality.

Hmm, there's a pretty simple solution to that, maybe since the people who made head replacers expect you to use BB, maybe you could just use it? Or in fact it doesn't matter because armor covers up your body anyway, unless you plan on using Cenobite's sixy glass or something.

EDIT: Thank you jeff.

Well, I'm sure you won't find a pickiest person than me in terms of mods, and I've stuck with BB-BH since I first played Morrowind back in 2006. The only improvement for that that I think that makes sense is some mod that replaces every NPC head with one unique for each one. And that's only for BH.

And for "companion/relationship mods and visual mods that don't require these annoying mods I don't like to use"...I'm pretty sure most of the companions don't require those mods...and visual packs for those mods technically are designed to improve them, so they're a requisite... just don't download them.

You're taking personal criticism like I'm saying the mods are horrible and should never be used by anyone.

Better Bodies is NOT a bad mod

Better Heads is NOT a bad mod

MGE is NOT a bad mod

I just personally don't like to use them. The only reason I have to be picky about this is because mostly all the new mods use these new meshes and effects that destroy my graphics card, or stray from my personal taste. Quit putting words in my mouth and acting like this is a thread to bash all of your creative mods and act like they need to be better. They don't.
