How to enable and take screenshots:
  • Make sure Fallout: New Vegas is closed
  • Find the Fallout.ini in "My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV"
    • NOTE: FalloutPrefs.ini and Fallout_default.ini is NOT the one you're looking for!
  • Make a copy of the .ini file.
    • It is very important to make a back-up copy of the .ini file in case of errors.
  • Open the Fallout.ini file in Notepad
  • Find the line "bAllowScreenShot=0" and change it to "bAllowScreenShot=1"
  • Save your changes and close Notepad, screenshots should now be enabled.
    • When you want to take a screenshot, press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scr" key on your keyboard. This is usually to the right of your F1-F12 keys
    • If successful, you should see a large message in the upper-left of your screen that says "ScreenShot: File 'ScreenShot0.bmp' created."
    • Everytime you take a screenshot, Fallout: New Vegas will create a new .bmp with a new filename (one number larger than the previous screenshot).
    • All screenshots are stored as .bmp files in the root of your Fallout: New Vegas directory. The default location for this is C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout New Vegas

Camera Tips:
  • Press R on your keyboard to switch back and forth from first, to third-person view
  • Press and hold R to change the camera angle by moving your mouse around. This will rotate the camera around your character.
    • A side-to-side mouse movement will rotate the camera around your player
    • A forwards-backwards mouse movement will tilt the camera angle above or below your character
    • The mouse scroll wheel will move the camera closer or farther away
  • You can equip your weapon and/or shot in this position as long as you continue to hold R
  • Press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scr" button at any time to take your shot.
    • Be careful not to take them too close together or you'll accidentally capture the "screen shot created" message in your shot

How to disable the UI (Stats Bars, Compass, etc):
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TM
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Your UI (User Interface) should now be gone
    • To re-enable your UI, type TM in the console again using the steps above

How to enable Free-Flying Camera mode:
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TFC
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • You can then move the camera around using the same keys you would normally use to move your character.
    • To go back to normal, type TFC in the console again using the steps above
  • To freeze everything in place while in Freecam mode, enter TFC 1, instead of just TFC
  • To vary the speed in which the freecam moves, use SUCSM x, where x equals a multiplier (default is 1).

How to Disable the AI of any Creature/NPC:
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TAI
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Entering the command while no actor is selected will cause all actors to stand at idle (but still have idle animation).
  • Using while an actor is selected will freeze them in-place.
  • To return to normal, type TAI in the console again, and press enter.

How to remove Collision from your Character (Clipping):
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TCL
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • To return to normal, type TCL in the console again, and press enter

And yes, I used all the voice files too, so there's quite a variety of comments that happen before and during a fight ;)

Well, I haven't started a new screenshot thread yet (aside from my own, not a continuation) but I am the 201st post so since you're around, maybe that person can be you? I'm not sure of protocol around here these days, been awhile I posted regularly at this forum. ;)

Usually it's someone who has contributed to the existing thread, not just a spectator who comes along and sees it's nearly closing time.
These days it's usually MadCat because he usually makes up some witty one-liner for the topic description. I've only made a new thread, I think, twice and only because I was the only one online at the time (excluding guests), so I thought why not.
IMO, re-posting the last few posts is up to the original poster, not thread starter.

I've only got the one. Been having CTD issues and may have to overhaul my load order and start again :(

@Occam's Razor
That is an awesome shot! Wow!

@MadCat
Thank you for starting the new thread! And I haven't tried the pulse gun, it's now top on my list of things to do for my next character.

@ MystykStar
Gorgeous, gorgeous shot! I hope you get the CTD resolved soon, we miss you when you're not around. ;)

I been playing around myself, I had a problem where I can't get Boone out of Caesar's tent after wiping them out. I've tried removing several mods an no go so I'll have to remote compaion him and warp him out but I didn't really want to do that, I tend to leave the acutal companions alone. But I'm half way though the game and really don't want to start over, Mercy Me has been a lot of fun but I get really bored playing females, even if they have big gozongas like this one does--that's just not my style.

It kinda bugged me that ED-E could suddenly fire alien blaster bolts when you gave him the Followers weapon upgrade. So I got to mesh hackin' and made this WIPpy little number for ED-E. Spliced bits of the Mr. Gutsy plasma gun.

ooh nice! you gonna upload the modified EDE or just personal use? I also changed the EDE upgrade to plasma, I also didn't think it made sense EDE would start shooting alien bolts, but I never found the time to change EDE's mesh.

Looks really nice what you did there, would be cool if you could upload it :P

Once I get it working, I'll probably upload it.

I'll also probably use the Q35 plasma bolt projectile with a faster projectile speed so he can actually hit things at long range too. :)

That would be great, although I also wouldn't mind just having the mesh, getting it implemented in game shouldn't be a problem. Heck, even if you decide not to, it just gave me an idea of the next fun thing to mod. I haven't actually thought of changing EDE's mesh til I saw this. Come to think of it, maybe I can create a new EDE firing animation for full auto, just so I can decide if I like RCW or plasma.

Been having CTD issues when entering combat, so had to abandon my current character. I started her again. I couldn't find the same shade of blue I had before, so we just changed it all to something different.

Although at level 1 we probably shouldn't be annoying the radscorpion family over between Primm and the Mojave Outpost. I didn't die but I did lots of running :D

Are you still having the CTD? And I hate when I can't find the colors I used before. Too bad the sliders don't have numbers so we can jot down the settings. I've never figured out how to fix my own PC in the GECK, is it possible?

Between the GECK, FNVEdit, and some manner of FaceGen savegame extractor, yes.

@LadyM: I have numbers on my sliders but didn't write them down. I use Mikoto so maybe it's included with that.

How did you nix the neck seam? I know it's probably hidden beneath the necklace, but even with that there's normally still a noticeable difference in color. It's not a case of mesh tanspace not matching up along the seam, but some sort of skin material shader bug or something that makes the head and body skin tones conspicuously different. I'm not seeing the tone mismatch at all in your pic there. Is there a fix out there that I don't know about?

Come to think of it, I haven't noticed color mismatch, unlike when I gave Chet a change of clothing and his body was really pale. Not lily white, just totally different from his head.
All I seem to get with my female characters is a definite line where the neck meets the body. I usually notice the skin tones not matching.
Chet and Kat are the same race, but in NV no one does anything for the guys so they still have major head/body issues. The mesh and texture I copied over from FO3 on't seem to be working. Unfortunately.

I use the face texture from Dimon's Type 3 race mod for FO3 (just copied it over) and the BoG Type 3 body for NV. That image isn't overly photoshopped, unlike the time I posted http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/160921-1279728778.jpg and someone thought I'd eradicated the neck seam. I know how Nec did it for his Mystic Elves in Oblivion, I read a tutorial he posted once, but I've not tried to do it myself. I just cover it up with a necklace. Easy fixed :)
