[REQz] Modder's Resource: a Distillery/Brewer's Apparatus

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 11:23 pm

I am looking for a modder's resource: a still (distillery, distillation apparatus). Actually it is for a home-brewer so a still is not technically appropriate, but it is just to give the impression of the NPC's trade. I have combed through the modder resources links and did not see anything. I do not play Morrowind except to test so I do not know what has been created by other modders that might be available. If anyone has seen something like what I describe I would appreciate a link. Right now I have something built up from existing (official) meshes that is rather crude. Thank you.

Have you looked at the furn_dwrv_steam_00.nif in the Construction Set (Activator tab)?

Thank you for the suggestions both of you.

@Rougetet: I'm afraid that Bethesda's steam turbine is a little too distinctive to pass as a still, although I like the barrel (rescaled and rotated) for the primary vessel. Perhaps I will try to modify the mesh myself.

@Slartibartfast: I looked at Qarl's knick-knacks. Dr. Finsleth has some exotic apparatus that begins to approximate what I need, but it is altogether to fine and delicate for a commoner to acquire and use. I think I will have to continue my search, or expand my modding skills to come up with something on my own.

At least my current contraption is quaint for its crudeness.

Can you show us a real life picture of what you are asking? Because I'm having difficulty visualizing what you want.

Home-brewing is quite different in it's needs but for a micro brewery http://www.lamppost-backstreet.com/Brewery_diagram_2.gif

Likely a http://askasoutherner.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/2416650198_cab4da496f.jpg would be appropriate

@ cyrano - I had the same problem finding kit for Dunhaven - KKK really doesn't fit the Morrowind atmosphere - the only thing i could find that was anywhere close to what i wanted is under activators in the CS - Test stats or Test sounds links to a mesh called furn_cistern_01 - which is not a bad copper kettle - you can find it under the f folder on your CD

I don't think they had stuff quite that technologically advanced back in medieval times, though. This is for usage in a brewery? What did they use to make alcohol back in those days?

I'm not sure if it's suitable to distill alcohol, but http://www.hicker-stock-photography.com/images/600/distillery-market-stall-684.jpg shows a primitive distillery that's small enough to be used by a commoner (it's also small enough to be hidden quickly, should the need arise). Glass vessels would probably look cooler (and would probably meet player's expectations better than copper), but it'd be too expensive for a commoner.

Maybe you'll find tubes that would suit your need in http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6248.
