Hail Modders,
It has come to my attention that a number of Oblivion mods have been compiled into a large torrent pack on a Russian torrent site. Those mods included in the pack have been included with no author credit (unless the author put their name in the title) and in many cases without permission regardless of what was listed for terms of use in the Readme. Many of those listed are exclusives from TESA that are specifically not to be rehosted anywhere. The point of this thread is not to spur on any debates so please don't do that. I just thought I should share this information for those of you who have mods on this list that you may take action in trying to contact the author if you would like your work excluded from this pack. EDIT: To add a few things I missed. Also contained in the torrent is the GOTY version of Oblivion along with all the DLC, several versions of OBSE, FCOM, Oblivion Mod Manager, TES4 LodGen and the Oblivion Crash Prevention System.

I feel the same for my Rune Tower... It ain't big, but I put a lot of work on that thing :stare:

If my mods were public (outside of Iceland) I'd be Googling "how to copyright MAH MODS" so fast my fingers would break the speed of light

Never seen such a random collection of mods anywhere. Would all that even work together?

In all that, I only see one of mine. Nobody ever asked me for permission, and I'm certainly not giving Russian spammers my cell phone # just so I can stumble around in the dark on a site I can't even read.

You know this reprobate has four versions of OBSE packed in that mess? Conflicting body mods! I feel sorry for whoever does download and try to use this thing. Yeesh there are going to be some broken games in Russia. :shakehead:

My empathy for anyone even considering using torrents for mods is limited. I've seen nothing but outdated, wildly conflicting and eventually all 'pirated' mods put together. If you use torrents for mods, you're in for a crashfest.

That another reason why this is bad. I feel for the folks whose install gets broken because of this. Under normal circumstances a mod author can provide support to users. This totally ruins that modder to mod player connection.

Avoid any Mod Torrent's pack has they are usually outdated,

They do not have permission from mod authors

You never know what could be contained or changed in them has well..

Do not see any of My Mods or team mods - FCOM but most likely older version of MMM once again..Do not see Armamentarium Complete or Tamriel Travellers or EVE or Artifacts..

Nah. I'm glad it's 'just' Quest for the Elements, which I'm not doing anything with anymore anyway. Still, I'd rather see them not stealing anything at all of course!


Also I doubt that all those mods work together without major incompatibility issues.

There are some more mods as updates in that thread and there are also torrents for Morrowind and Fallout on this page...
..as well as some links to other sites with plenty mod downloads. Unofficial Oblivion Patch for example - with or without any permission?
