No. His point is that Bethesda games didn't run good on the PS3 so why should they on the Ps4. Which as a keep trying to explain the PS4 is different from the Ps3 and is very similar to the XB1.
Why would this have any thing to do with Backwards compatibility?
As for Mods on the 360, or the PS3 for that matter, it was always Microsoft or Sony that stopped it, not Bethesda. Not sure if mods on the PS3 would be a good thing or not. Anyway, I don't know if it is technical reasons as to why mods could not be loaded on the 360, if it was, then it probably won't happen. If it was some policy that someone created for some reason, then perhaps it will come to pass.
Thing is, do any of these companies want to spend money on a game that has already sold? That is the biggest question to answer.
Yup. The lack of mods on the console platforms was all on Microsoft and Sony. Bethesda would have been happy to do it.
If the PS4 version of FO4 doesn't support mods, go yell at Sony. They were the roadblock before and they'll be the roadblock now.
The statement quoted was talking about the PS3. We can all agree that that Skyrim should have never been released on the PS3 and let it go at that. It's water over the waterfall at this point. I am convinced that the other DLCs we should have gotten for Skyrim did not come out because of the PS3 and its inability to run the game with larger save files. The PS3 was a good gaming system for the games written for it, but not for the games published by Bethesda. They take powerful (for the time) PCs and make them cry and cower in the corner shaking in fear of the code.
I have a lot more faith in the PS4 handling these games. They are X86 machines under the hood and that makes them essentially PCs on all 3 platforms.
Unless it comes to light that M$ paid for them not to allow PS4 mods, which will hurt just as much as if Sony say no!
I hard a time believing Sony will say "Mods for Doom? Of Course we will allow it. Mod for Fallout 4? What are you high of course not!". Maybe I'm wrong but I need to vent damn it and Bethesda will have to deal with it for now.
Doom really isn't having external mods, though. It does have a built in level editor. Not the same thing at all.
On the Backwards compatibility topic, have you seen the current list of games on it?
Banjo-Kazooie N n B, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-tooie, Battleblock theater, defense grid, geometry wars evolved, hexic hd, jetpack refuelled, kameo, mass effect, perfect dark, perfect dark zero, small arms, super meat boy, toy soldiers, toy soldiers cold war, viva pinata and viva pinata TIP.
This doesn't seem like a list gamers would be asking for compared to most of the games out there?!
I know wouldn't be hyped for this, but I can't speak for everyone. Viva Pinata and Viv P TIP are all I like on that list!
Off Topic- Speaking of toy soldiers anyone remember the Small Soldiers movie? I can't believe I liked that as a kid.
They aren't actually saying 'mods for doom'. The player created levels in doom won't be mods created with external tools that can have pretty much any content the modder desires like dialogue, scripts and new textures. Rather, they will be levels created with an in-program utility that simply allows players to snap together already existing content into new configurations within the bounds of it's own rules.
huuummm.........I had not thought of that.
It may not be great thing after all.
Ehh, didn't stop modding on the PS3 in the past
Whether or not the blessing is given from Sony is up in the air, however I smell it might be more related to:
I could easily see that being the case.
I don't want to sound mean but I think you didn't read my post correct, let alone watched the Microsoft's showcase about this stuff.
Firstly, backward compatibility is being a free thing. You can insert your Xbox 360 game disc into the Xbox One and it will recognize the game then download the Xbox One version for free for ya. With this kind of compatibility, that means we might be able to put in our Xbox 360 Skyrim or Fallout 3 disc in the Xbox One and be able to download said games just fine on the Xbox One for free. Microsoft specifically confirmed this.
Secondly, with Todd Howard's quote specifically mentioning that Mods will be coming to the Xbox One, he never specify Fallout 4. Just that mods, made on the PC, can be transferred, played, and shared on the Xbox One. This might mean that, since Skyrim and other Bethesda games might now be playable on the Xbox One, that this statement is INCLUDING those games as well, as long as you are playing them on the Xbox One.
So ye'h. Also, I have a feeling Fallout 3 will be on Xbox One... Because during the Microsoft showcase while Todd Howard was talking about the about thing... On the screen it said "Xbox Exclusive Offer: Fallout 3 included with Fallout 4"... So if Microsoft is allowing Fallout 3 to be on the Xbox One... Maybe they'll do the same for Skyrim and other Bethesda games as well, which also helps with my point that mods from previous games might just be on the Xbox One as well along with them? Or can be, at least.
Seriously, how am I not the only one noticing this?
ooh, banjo kazooie was groovy
if you'd smoked enough )
I highly doubt will be able to do it on PS4. If we could, why wouldn't they have said it last night? Since all platforms could do it, it would seem logical to announce it then, not at two separate conferences.
Todd Howards just said in interview that "We hope to bring mods to PS4 too."
So at least they are trying to get Sony on board.
"Hope"...Bet it turns out to be just like Skyrim on the PS3.
Hey guys, watching the live stream on youtube E3 coverage. Just wrapped up an interview with Tod Howard:
He says to expect the GECK early 2016, but the xbox one integration won't come until a bit later. Then, he went on to say that they hope to get mods to the PS4 too - after that.
So it's confirmed - mods on all platforms is the plan at least.
I only saw the part where they talked about mods. Anything I missed before that?
