If Sony pass that up, I'm done.
If Sony pass that up, I'm done.
Did he say that after mentioning the GECK coming after release? I must of missed it.
Well, I guess that is a good sign that Sony is playing nicely...
After, it was almost the last thing said in that interview.
Did I miss anything besides the PS4 attempt at getting mods?
They've been trying for a very long time to get mods to the consoles
With the synergy between PC and XBO it will be easier
Personally I don't think it is such a big deal having mods on XBO and not PS4 - the PC is a better environment for modding and there is more freedom of what you can do with mods on PC than what would be allowed or achievable on a console
This is just going to be a wait and see - it probably won't be for 3-6 months before the modding tools are released as Beth lets players enjoy the base game and iron out the bugs.
Yes, the GECK will be released in early 2016, and then he said there will be a wait before any mods appear on Xbox. (makes sense, since good mods take time)
And then they are hoping for PS4 eventually.
GECK in early 2016 eh? Sad it isn't coming out with the game but understandable I suppose with the main focus on getting the game finished up in time for their scheduled release date. Now we just have to hope we won't have a repeat of the TESnip issues like we had with Skyrim. (spoiler - we probably will)
Skyrim on the PS3 was a hardware thing. With the PS4 it will be a Sony thing if it doesn't happen. Microsoft seems to be changing it's tune with regard to PCs and gaming in many respects and may simply be more on board with the idea of player created content. Sony, on the other hand, may insist on more control over what runs on their boxes.
User-made mods (quests, etc) might be a bit difficult, without a voice actor for the protagonist.
Of course, that's not going to stop us from enjoying user-made weapons.
Usually it just awkward silence if characters are not voiced in the previous games. So it will be same thing here, be it NPC or PC.
I'm hoping more for some UI mods to download. Especially for conversations. Not a big fan of using the 4 Buttons to choose a dialogue option.
that really is a huge disappointment for me, I liked having the sentences to reply with rather than "yes, no, maybe, goodbye " I dislike the ' cinematic' feel games keep trying for!
Only difference is that plenty of mods added voices, this will be hard for the main character.
On the other hand you mostly say the same stuff all the time, Yes, no, I do it for 100 caps, what do you have for sale and so on.
Quite possible to avoid the character from having an monologue.
Good. They let you focus on the main game first before heading over to modding the game to eternity
I'm interested to see how modding on Xbox One will look like. That must be a dream announcement for Xbox One owners. Hope Sony follows suit and doesn't lock this great feature away from their customers.

To me it looks like the Xbox mods will early 2016 which may or may not indicate an earlier release of the GECK itself.
It has come up a couple of times in the thread, but I thought I would confirm that the Script Extender team intends to produce another script extender for Fallout 4. The timing of release of the game and release of the modding tools looks similar to that of Skyrim, so I imagine we'll be following the same pattern. We'll begin work porting our current code as soon as we get access to the game.
From information released by Bethesda and from previous experience, I expect Fallout 4 to use a further evolved version of the same game engine used in the previous games. It should also be using the Papyrus scripting language. I hope that means (as with earlier xSE releases) we'll be able to jump start our functionality based on what we have accomplished with SKSE, NVSE, FOSE and OBSE. But obviously we won't know until we have the game.
Hopefully we'll have another quick start to improving the game through add-ins and perhaps UI improvements (assuming the SkyUI team is interested in making a return as well) before the official tools are available.
I am looking forward to working on F4SE.
I'm really excited about this whole thing. Mods probably won't work exactly like they do on a PC, but this is a great start in the right direction. I'm sure there will be plenty of modders out there who will support this, too. The ones who don't? Welp, we don't need their content.
Even if I can only use a small number of mods, even if it means no script extenders or UI overhauls, I don't care. What works, works. What doesn't, doesn't. In the end, this all means that I'll be in no hurry to go through (another costly) PC upgrade nightmare.
Does the free Fallout 3 game come with the DLCs included I wonder.
The heavy gfx mods worked on xbox 360 if you had a modded xbox so I don't see why it wouldn't work on xbox one now that you're allowed to do it
I have money that Bethesda/Todd Howard had been bugging them for years.
I am just wondering how many people are going to break their games and start calling Bethesda and Microsoft for help.
