Modding Etiquette Question

Hi

My mod is designed to be a companion to JSawyers mod. I really like all the item balance and attention to detail he did.

Obviously, my mod is an ESM because I have new areas and gave a lot of attention to Navmesh.

Here is my issue.

There are some things I'd like to change from JSawyer's Mod.

For example,

1) I think his expired stimpacks should be worth 20 caps, instead of 50.

2) I want to add a nuka cola addiction.

What is the etiquette here?

* I don't want to have a situation where people need my ESM, his ESP, and another ESP from me.

* I could write a script to check if his ESP has loaded, then make my changes after... but that seems underhanded / dishonest somehow.

* I could absorb his whole mod, but considering he's so strict with the mod hosting he'd never give me permission.

* I could even redo every single change by hand, all by myself, and rewrite all the scripts... but, again, what's the difference between that and copying?
