Modding Program's Capabilities

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:59 pm

So recently after looking through the Modding Programs for other games I've wondered, how much more are they going to take out? And are they going to add anything else? Like look at the Oblivion Construction Set, it was easy to change NPC's Skeletons, and Skeleton Controls were better in it. Then they removed some options, like those skeleton controls in the next modding program, the G.E.C.K, but also added new options like templates and talking creatures. So what would we want in the modding resource, what will most likely be in it, and what is probably going to be removed?

There's a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157697-construction-set-what-would-you-like-to-see/ thread. :)

I didn't vote, as unfortunately it's still speculation that there'll even be a construction set release for Skyrim, though it's certainly more likely than not.

I think it's already been confirmed by Todd Howard in one of his interviews.

"...and there's one our guys using the creation kit" Is hardly confirmation but I still have little doubt.

I think "much more," simply because I believe a lot of what was very difficult before will be made much simpler. For me, that is a huge benefit over the TES Construction Kit and the Geck. In those, importing new models/textures can be a godamned pain in the [censored] sometimes.

Well the old construction sets pretty much gave you nearly full reign over the game. For all we know, BGS programmed their own rendering and modeling tools this time around and add it in with their creation kit. We will see.
