How to enable and take screenshots:
  • Make sure Oblivion is closed
  • Find the Oblivion.ini file in "My Documents\My Games\Oblivion"
    • NOTE: Oblivion_default.ini in Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion is NOT the one you're looking for!
  • Make a copy of the .ini file.
    • It is very important to make a back-up copy of the .ini file in case of errors.
  • Open the Oblivion.ini file in Notepad
  • Find the line "bAllowScreenShot=0" and change it to "bAllowScreenShot=1"
  • Save your changes and close Notepad, screenshots should now be enabled.
    • When you want to take a screenshot, press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scr" key on your keyboard. This is usually to the right of your F1-F12 keys
    • If successful, you should see a large message in the upper-left of your screen that says "ScreenShot: File 'ScreenShot0.bmp' created."
    • Everytime you take a screenshot, Oblivion will create a new .bmp with a new filename (one number larger than the previous screenshot).
    • All screenshots are stored as .bmp files in the root of your Oblivion directory. The default location for this is C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

Camera Tips:
  • Press R on your keyboard to switch back and forth from first, to third-person view
  • Press and hold R to change the camera angle by moving your mouse around. This will rotate the camera around your character.
    • A side-to-side mouse movement will rotate the camera around your player
    • A forwards-backwards mouse movement will tilt the camera angle above or below your character
    • The mouse scroll wheel will move the camera closer or farther away
  • You can equip your weapon and/or cast a spell in this position as long as you continue to hold R
  • Press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scr" button at any time to take your shot.
    • Be careful not to take them too close together or you'll accidentally capture the "screen shot created" message in your shot

How to disable the UI (Stats Bars, Compass, etc):
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TM
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Your UI (User Interface) should now be gone
    • To re-enable your UI, type TM in the console again using the steps above

How to enable Free-Flying Camera mode:
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TFC
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • You can then move the camera around using the same keys you would normally use to move your character.
    • To go back to normal, type TFC in the console again using the steps above

How to Disable the AI of any Creature/NPC:
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TAI
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Entering the command while no actor is selected will cause all actors to stand at idle (but still have idle animation).
  • Using while an actor is selected will freeze them in-place.
  • To return to normal, type TAI in the console again, and press enter.

How to remove Collision from your Character (Clipping):
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TCL
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • To return to normal, type TCL in the console again, and press enter

I worked hard to re-format the screenshot thread introduction for a few reasons:
  • The old one was confusing and chaotic. For a new member, it's rather daunting. (I've gotten quite a few people asking me how to do things regarding screenshots when the thread already exists)
  • To clear up the guidelines, so there is no mistaking what the rules of the thread are.
  • A flood of new members are coming with the interest of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, I wanted to make this thread more user friendly.

As I did many years ago, I tried to help the foundation of the screenshots thread be more organized. I'm here again to try to do the same, to help the community out in different ways. I'm good at organization so I thought I could help out in this way.
Feel free to copy/paste this when new screenshot threads are started, I hope this clears it up a bit and helps the new members out.

BIG NOTE: Please, start naming the threads "MODed Oblivion Screenshot Thread #", when we started naming the threads "Character screenshots", we excluded just normal scenery screenshots, and action shots. Many things that can be taken would not fit under the "Character Screenshot" category. Let's not limit our screenshots thread this way.

I hope this is photoshopped because that is so much better than the faces in my game.

No photoshop!

It's straight from the game with OBGE providing for SSAO and Depth of field.

The facial texture mod is Natural Faces.

Edited since I typed in the wrong mod.

I have a sort of embarrassing question. How does one get screen-shot links labeled as urrl does it? I used to be able to do that easily, but since the recent forum changes mine turn out like Poddmeister's.

I can't seem to be able to actually type the think out; it appears blank after the post so i will say it in words
left bracket, url equals and then put the link, then right bracket
then you put in what text you want
then left bracket, forward slash, url, right bracket.

And here's how I do it: first I type the text I wish to use as the link. Then I click and drag my mouse across the desired text to "highlight" it, then I hit the "insert link" button, and copy my link into the window. Then I click "insert link" to confirm. :)

One from me:

SSAO- Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. A post process shader effect that adds self shadowing to the scene in screen space. One of the many wonderful shader effects from the Oblivion Graphics Extender project (OBGE).

Thanks for the guidance! Looks like all works as it should except that one now needs to use "insert link" rather than "insert image".

I've not taken many game-play captures since my previous contribution here a thread or two ago. Since hooking up with Vilja we've mostly concentrated on various Kragenir's Death Quest commissions. I documented those extensively during my previous play-through, rendering new captures redundant.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/Vilja_meeting.jpg My initial contact with Vilja, destined to become both friend and traveling companion and already the center of attention, at the Bloated Float.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/ViljaNeeshkaFC-1.jpg at "A Fighting Chance": This view documents the very brief period, no more than two real-life days, when I ran both Neeshka and Vilja this play-through. For whatever reason, Neeshka seems to either contribute to resource overload or is its chief victim, often failing to execute her various functions and clipping vocal-lines during combat. For this reason I all but ceased traveling with her during the final months of my prior play-through. I had hoped that recent computer hardware upgrades... more memory (6gb), better graphics (GTX470), et al ...might rectify the situation. Such was not the case. Thankfully, Vilja is not afflicted.

Nope. It's another custom race using face textures I found at on some foreign mod site.

I love these shots RedGuard Mage2; very different and unique. The clothing and head wear are available?
Sorry for taking so long to answer, I've been having a lot of trouble with my Internet. :banghead:

Um... nothing is available yet but it will all be released. The female outfits are almost finished, however I would like to have a male version to release at the same time. If that turns out to be too much work then I will just release it as is.

It is this one, it is based on a armor from the Japanese Manga comic Berserk.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29527

Mind you though that the maker mentions that the armor is heavily enchanted...and that is putting it mildly. So if you want to use it and you are like me, then i suggest that you either change the enchantments on the armor parts and weapon, or to remove it completely with the CS. Also know that the Body armor itself is heavy in weight, namely 100. (But again you can change that with the CS. :) )
