MODed Oblivion Screenshot Thread #275

far327, hopefully you will find a better hosting site, but they still look awesome!

Thanks for that mods list - much appreciated.

I have also been using the full QTP3 omod as mentioned earlier, along with Natural Environments, and am thinking that the NE is causing a lot of the lag I mentioned earlier, especially when I enter an area of high foliage. Do you have problems with FPS getting real low with all the mods you listed? I am fine walking and running but when there is any real battle going on, it definitely lags if in the foliage.

I am a noob at these particular mods and now know that QTP3 has nothing to do with foliage - so the big lag must be from NE and also perhaps the Everything Viewable in the Distance mod - not to mention 3 displays and all maxed settings. Given the hardware I have, I am assuming it is the OB engine, but maybe not.

If you would be so kind, other than the above question, also knowing what your hardware is would be very interesting. Thanks again!

I recently found out that the WHOLE time I've had Oblivion I had it set to medium graphics for some reason, so now EVERYTHING is as high as it can be and I never realised how nice it could look!

Oh dang, reading this reminded me of one of the most important mods I forgot to list...
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305

Everything Viewable in the Distance - or RAEVWD would be your largest FPS eater. AND WOW... 3 displays? Yeah, I've never ran more than one, so I can't say how much that affects FPS.
Natural Environments might reduce FPS some, but not much IMO. Why not just use All Natural? You would get a wider range of weather. Plus you can make changes thru it's .ini file for more specific changes. :)

I have no FPS issues ever really. But mostly because I made the hard decision to stop using RAEVWD and just replace the distant LOD with very tall trees and fog. Still looks fine IMO. I actually like the dense forest look. And if you get your fog values right using All Natural, you can get fog cover on distant trees which looks really nice. I also reduced both of these values to 18 in the Oblivion.ini file. This gave me about 7 - 10 more FPS.

Man, thanks a lot for this info. Yeah, it must be RAEVWD.

I was happily surprised that OB can deal with Eyefinity, so the 3 displays x (1920x1080)=5760x1080. I just built this machine mostly for DX11, but love OB because of its sandbox approach and all the fantastic mods, so I have been slowly adding a few mods and seeing what happens FPS-wise.

I also looked at your sig - that Ramdisk business looks very interesting. I am running OB on a 64GB Crucial SSD (C300) on a 6 GPS port, but it seems I would still benefit from what your sig is referring to, especially since I have 16GB of ram - that is impressive throughput you are getting!

RAMDisk is great, though I would make better use of it if I had more than 8gb of RAM. But it really did improve stuttering in addition to what Oblivion Stutter Remover already improved. With 16gb of ram, you should be able to get all of QTP3 and other large .bsa archives loading from RAM.
As of now, I haven't figured out how to get custom .bsa archives such as Better Cities to load from RAM. But perhaps it can be discussed in the topic. Kudos to Arthmoor who gave me the info about lowering ugrids and editing fog values. Guy knows his stuff.

Yeah, those two values can make a huge difference to performance. They also make a huge difference to visuals as well though. I like to set them really high, both around 50. Seeing trees spread for miles in every direction amazes me, especially the tiny ones in the distance, on the tops of the hills. Lowering them to 18 like you suggest will massively boost your frame rate but also impose a 'tree line' where the trees just... stop. Anything beyond that point is flat ground, and looks really bad imo.

I play without RAEVWD, but with a massive tree distance thanks to those high ugrid values. Since ~80% of Oblivion's land is covered in trees anyway, I happily assume that I can't see any forts and ruins because they're lost amongst the forests.

You know, come to think of it, since I stopped using RAEVWD, I never attempted to see how far I could push my ugrids before my FPS became unacceptable. Think I'll give it a shot. You described it very nicely! Sounds well worth a try. :)

This is http://s140.photobucket.com/albums/r11/Gerza71/Oblivion%20Mealle/?albumview=slideshow

Maelle is a Female Breton Apprentice Witch-Hunter. When I started with her she was weak she had only 53 health. With bit of patience and choosing her fights carefully (and doing a lot of running backwards) she become powerful Breton with a deadly flaw.

As for her looks, I like to keep you guessing. You know the remake of Battlestar Galactica that character Boomer, well she just about looks like her. The only mod I used besides Roberts Females is Natural Faces v95. I started using that mod with my last character.

I was going to do a Emma Watson look a like but after pressing randomise couple of time and seen that face, I liked it. She look more like a child but I did not use any child mods in this game.

My game is modded and got about 65 mods

And is the female ogre something you created as well? I always like the idea of encountering both genders of creatures in the game.

The female ogre is from WAC (Waalx animals & creatures). He has a lot of gender variations for creatures (at least for those where it makes sense).

I'm impressed, certainly a very major improvement over the original water by the looks of it, it's going to be nice to try it out when it's released.

Are there any websites that won't scale down the size of my pictures? They used to be almost full screen on my TV, but photobucket makes them considerably smaller!
