The whole premise of the Elder Scrolls series, is its setting.

With modern technology? No. If Bethesda wants to make a game set in modern times, or even using modern technology, they can make a new series out of it instead of ruining TES.

I know, I'm just a silly n'wah on the inside.
Still it would be cool to play morrowind while being inside, say, TES IX.
Playing TES from inside TES... amirite?

No thanks. Although some of the imagery from Loveletter from the Fifth Era implied that the distant future in Tamriel would have digital technology..for the purposes of the games let's keep it old school.

Doesn't Fallout 3 already kind of fit that bill? :P

Nah, TES is TES because of its current setting.

I would be interested in a new sci-fi/futuristic series though. Could be interesting.

Dang I must read this loveletter. It's in the imperial Library I'm guessing right? Dang maybe the last TES will end right when the technology arrives .

There's a group called the "Digitals" and mentions people who "came from another star," but it really doesn't give any solid evidence that there will be advanced technology in the 5th Era.

Yea I just read, it is written in a very odd way. Heck I guess we will have to see.

I think and Elder Scrolls style game with a modern setting could be fun but it wouldn't work for an actual Elder Scrolls game.

indeed NO!

Elderscrolls should alway remain a fantasy RPG, i have no objection to a Modern game but please let it have nothing to do with Elderscrolls

i am praying the next one doesnt have guns of any description, no even sure i would like an "upgrade" to crossbows

i am sure that i have mentioned this in another topic... but because Nirn has magic, a need for development of technology past elderscroll's current technology would be unrequired

"Digitals" doesn't involve digital tech, its rather a play on the digits of your hand. "Another star" is cosmological babble, the Temple Zero or Vivec's Teachings can illuminate that riddle. There's really no way to know what Tamriel's future holds, except impending doom (The Underking) and a hero to thwart the doom, repeat.

I'd like to a new steampunk IP.

As for modern TES - no. I find nothing appealing about modern technology. Swords and sorcery, on the other hand, is much more fun (and something I can't do in real life).

I don't know if you know this but on Earth crossbows have been around since before 4th century BC. It's not that amazing of technology. Hell, Morrowind had crossbows.

no
and I find kind of furutistic vision for fantasy games where magic fails and elves start wearing costumes and riding cars kind of pathetic. It just looked ridiculous in Arcanum.

the people writing such settings should actually get off their butts and use their [censored] imagination. Future for tes would be different from earth-s 21th century, there would never be such thing as science vs magic for example

You come to the core fanbase of the elder scrolls and ask about drastically changing the setting, what sort of response were you expecting

I think he was agreeing with me that he'd rather them not ruin TES by giving it a modern setting.
