Modifications for Role-Players

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:33 pm

Hello, I've just started with a fresh install of Oblivion (well, not exactly, I have the almost essential mods like OOO and UOP). I want to start a strict realism/roleplaying character, and I'd really like some suggestions of mods that would help this cause.

Thanks in advance!

Get "Integration, the stranded light", a multiple quest mod that is supposedly really lore-friendly (created by bg2408).

Thanks for that link, there are a few great mods there!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm that type of person that simply cannot stand the anime style, especially where it doesn't belong (in my opinion, at least). I didn't read into it much, but it might conflict with OOO anyway.

Anime style? If you mean the eyes of the characters (I can't stand them either, though I wouldn't call them "anime") - there are face replacements found http://www.moddb.com/mods/integration-the-stranded-light/addons/integration-alternate-npc-faces-plugin. I use it and like the faces better. Integration is a lore-friendly set of quests that ties into the main OB quest and SI quests...

Where is it said that Integration is not compatible with OOO? I use them together... maybe you are reading info for another mod?

Wait, what? I've never seen anything like that (though I have seen silly hair).

[censored] anime in my oblivion, back where you belong, darn it... :brokencomputer:

Why is it that the anime style is from Asian people but the characters all look Caucasian?

Oh, that replacement looks much better. Sorry if you thought that I mean't I knew that it wasn't compatible, that was just a stupid guess that I made. After reading into it more, I may or may not try it out.

Oh well, there's a quest mod with nearly 100 very diverse quests, strong ties to lore, several guilds, a possible play time vastly exceeding that of any official addon - multiple times at that. Nevertheless I don't like the artistic choices regarding some faces, use some generic unfitting term to slander them, and blissfully ignore that there is an alternative face plugin available.

... and some people are really suprised that mods of such scale are few and far between ...

Well, some of us are real big fans of the said mod and are there to disperse the misinformation, so don't be cynical bg2408 - we wuv your work!

Hi,

well if realistic lore-friendly RP-ing is wanted there is really only one alternative, T.I.E.

Extreme caution and patience is needed when building up your char and change of playing style is also a must in most cases.
As T.I.E. is built exclusively with CS resources it`s as lore friendly as humanly possible.

Regards, Haldir

I played part of Integration in my last game and found the faces... odd so I was very interested in the alternate face link provided above. Interestingly though, on viewing said faces, I won't be using them. I've already 'met' some of these characters and they just wouldn't be them if I change their faces now.

Nobody's ever said that your mod is not great; it's generally considered to be among the top five quest mods for Oblivion.
The only negative things that can be said about is the rather strict requirements of needing both RBP and LAME, and (for some players) the faces.
If it had been an average quest mod and not named "Integration" I would not have mentioned the NPC faces, but for me the anime/cartoony faces really stand out and kind of breaks the immersion of "living in an alernate world" since the faces don't "integrate" well with the rest of the game world, and thus it clashes with the "immersive" role playing experience.
I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I've always been a believer in honesty and frank talk, instead of svcking up to or talking down to people.

I see your point(s).

I'm actually thinking about playing your mod now, and my comments earlier were only based solely on foolish guesses. It's only the faces I have a problem with, and there's a addon that changes that.

My apologies.

It's probably worth noting that in a lesser mod, one would have more to disagree with than face design. However, one does not - you should probably take that as a compliment, integration is very well done.
