Modifying the position of a persitent item

I move the Anvil lighthouse up a lot to make the hill it's on bigger. When I test it with my current player, I found that persistent objects, like the exterior doors and a barrel were still in their old spots. The bowl for the fire and the flame were also in their old spots, as was Ulfgar. Ulfgar was standing in the air next to the bowl.

I replaced all the doors with new ones, and I could do the bowl and flame too, but what about Ulfgar? I can't mess with him without breaking some things. And why is he going to the old location? The interior doors are now all linked to my new doors, and I have laid all new pathing.

Of course, it occurs to me that I have had the problem with Better Cities after playing for a while. I will see the doors of a city in both the old and new locations. Then if I just save, quit, and restart, the old doors are gone. So it seems to be a glitch that goes away. How do they make it work when you install the mod with an existing character?

I also tried waiting for 4 days in an interior cell, but that does not fix my problem. I verified by starting a new character that the problem does not occur then.

Is there a way around having to replace the doors to get it to work for an existing character? Anyway to get the items in my savegame to get set to their new locations? Are path grids persistent too?

Thanks.
