Mods don′t stay checked in launcher

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:04 pm

I′ve talked about this with various members on the forums but gotten no definite answer as to why this is, so I thought I′d put the word out and see if anyone knows more about it.

I wanted to use a No Auto Aim mod and it was very simple to install it, no commotion at all. I went to the launcher and checkmarked it, exited the Data Files section and re-entered and the mod was now to my surprise unchecked. I can check it again and again till the cows come home but it will always uncheck itself. Does anyone know why it does that?

Also, it stays checked in FOMM. Do I have to launch the game from there to activate the mod?

Can you check to see if a mod works if you don't look at the "data files" section?

with the mods checked you should be able to start the game via the Fallout3.exe

Nope. The readme says the mod makes bullets not rising and that it tweaks the auto aim feature, but both are hard to verify in-game. And I don′t know how else I can check to see if it works. The issue of it not being saved in Data Files bugs me a bit. I think it works since it′s ok in FOMM but I′d like confirmation, you know.

you might need a mod that places a physical item in the world be a note, container or Npc so if the mod isn't loading you should get visual confirmation that it's working or not if you get the GECK you could make the test mod yourself

Yes that′s a good idea. I think I′ll do that if I can find a suitable mod

Edit: I downloaded a minigun mod and tested to run the game from both regular launcher and via FOMM and I can happily say that it works. So now I can finally stop bugging people here about my auto aim mod

Thanks to everyone for your help! :foodndrink:
