I've been trying to find a straight answer too but can't really find one.

*Removed my very incorrect information  *

Although, I hate to say it, but I'm kind of FO4'd out already.

I'm really hoping for some good DLC.

Mods are coming to PS4. And no, the geck is not coming to either the PS4 or the Xbox One. Geck will only be on PC and only allows (greatly aids) in the creation of mods. You'd need a PC and the PC version of Fallout 4 to actually make mods. My source for Mods on PS4 confirmation is at...

https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4-launch-and-beyond/2015/09/08/22

"We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4."

I then asked Pete Hines on twitter if that was a confirmation of mods coming to PS4 and he replied with...

"@OreicReynier i would assume the studio discussing it would be considered confirmation"

Sounds pretty confirmed to me.

They are coming, when becomes the question. So far, I have heard nothing aside from "Early 2016"...... Which I assume (yeah, I know, dangerous....) would mean first quarter 2016.... So, anytime in the next three months? I am REALLY looking forward to the geck. :)

There will likely be certain console only mods like console command mods. tgm and player.additem would be easy to simulate for a console mod, but tcl might be difficult to do. There will likely be a lot of restrictions. Lightsabers, Darth Vader Helmets, and Iron Man Power Armor all violate copyright law. There are the advlt mods that will be banned for obvious reason. Finally, there are the mods that go beyond the capacity of what consoles are capable.

I don't mean to sound perverted and I know It probably will be restricted, but what is the difference between a kid under 17 going on the computer to play it and accessing all those mods and on ps4? The game is already rated M so it already in the parents fault that they got them a rated M game.

That would be simply about the fact that the platform provider would limit that. Sony or MS may not allow those mods, whereas on PC they're unrestricted and it's up to the provider there to decide. (Workshop, Nexus, etc.)

The difference being that MS and Sony don't want advlt content screen shots being posted all over their services since they have users as young as 3 years old. Minors having that stuff readily available or even forced on them through social links would put the providers in dire legal straights. On a PC, there's no provider service to deal with. Minors having access to advlt content will more likely only have to deal with parents when they get caught.

I didn't see anything saying you would also need to own the pc version to get the CK. It would make since for needing the assets but that's not to say they might be trying something new to be able to allow modding for consoles.

well There is also parental control on the playstation 4, which includes browsers, games and such. Does it show the pictures and screen shots on the overview of the game and such when that is on? Either way as long as there are nice looking mods for armor and such, it be good. As well for building.

I simply cant imagine them getting all the various programs mod making needs to run on consoles. You'd need modeling programs, sound editing programs, texturing programs, etc

Im not saying it will be on consoles. Im saying what if you can get the CK standalone on the pc without needing the game on there as well?

I can't see them not alloing nvde / porm mods on consoles. If they'll accept GTAV and The Witcher 3 and then they ban nvde mods then I imgaine people will call out Sony and MS on their hypocrisy.

To do anything interesting with the editor you'd need to also have the data files, which Bethesda wouldn't give out for free and for licensing purposes is roughly the same as giving you another copy of the game.

Todd said at E3 that folks would need a PC to create the mods as the CK is still a PC-only program.
