Mods for Xbox.

Post » Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:05 pm

One thing that really bugged me is that I could never get mods on my Xbox 360.
So do you think that, when Skyrim is released, it should come with some soft wear that enables us to install console versions of mods?

I've searched the forums and so far found nothing on this topic (the search rarely works in opera)

I don't have a dog in the fight, so it doesn't matter to me. That said, it won't happen. It's likely that neither Sony nor Microshaft will allow mods on consoles. It svcks, but that's just the way it is.

They have confirmed that there is no plans for this. They said to get the PC version if you plan on modding.
I don't think its a bad idea but its not going to happen.

Afraid not.

It's already been stated by Gstaff that there won't be any provisions for mods on the consoles and that mods will remain PC only.

It's not legal. Microsoft would never allow it. Mods are also risky because they are fan-made and they could have adverse affects on a console.

Steamworks will be console exclusive for the PS3 version of Portal 2. What that means is that mods for the PS3, or PlayStation brand in general, will happen before the 360 or Microsoft allow it. That being said, neither console version of Skyrim will have mods.

Haha, PS3s don't deserve mods. It's all about Xbox, baby!

Haha, I kid, I kid. But it won't happen for either console. PCs get the good stuff (mods) exclusively.

I'm going to run on the PC, but I was thinking about somethings.

1-Skyrim has a better than 50/50 chance to be on Steam for PC.

2-Steam is coming to the PS3 for Portal 2

3-Mods for Portal 2 PC will be available for PS3 users.

So I was thinking that if Skyrim is on Steam, then mods could actually be available for the PS3.

No, would you like to know why?

Because you will get banned. I guess you have never heard of terms and conditions. If you knew anything about modding you would know this......

This is correct (although not with the attitude). Modding Xbox 360s and PS3s are illegal, as they could lead to a variety of issues (Ever play Halo 2 on xbox live when it came out? Real fun).

Whatever deal PS3 has with Portal 2, I'm sure they will have limited access to Steam. Mods can pose a lot of issues for consoles considering they are fan-made and can't be regulated by Sony and Microsoft.

Just get the PC version if you want to mod. Supposedly the graphics are going to be better anyways.

$ony and Micro$oft consoles are too limited and their architecture (talking abot ps3) is diferent.

So nope.

In oblivion a lot of mods need extra stuff to their correctly work (OBSE, WRYE BASH, etc.)

Console can manage a CTD? How can you try mods? They never are 100% safe.

The consoles are not upgradeable so Texture mods maybe cant be handled.

I've had a crash to XMB with New Vegas on my PS3.
