Mods not running?

Post » Sat Nov 06, 2010 7:10 am

Sorry if these are already answered somewhere but I need help... The two mods I have installed/ are trying to install are Better Bodies and a mod that puts Darth Maul as a playable character. The problem is.... with the darth maul character Whenever I go to select the Zabrak (Whatever the name is sorry im not too big on star wars lore) it says something about how it cant use the file and tries to switch to the default pieces etc. which results in Darth Mauls head on what Im guessing is supposed to be on a better body that is completely white.

And now onto the Better Bodies. After running the installer and Putting it on Data files What am I supposed to do? All the character models look the same and none of them appear to have "better bodies" so to speak. Am I supposed to re-start my computer?

Sorry for the foolish questions, believe it or not, today is the first day that I have ever tried to mod.

Alright, so you used the Better Bodies installer so everything should be in place. Did you activate (checkmark) Better Bodies.esp under the Morrowind launcher Data Files option? I believe it needs to be activated for the new bodies to work. And no, you don’t need to restart your computer.

As for the Darth Maul mod, I just tried it out and received the same problem as you, though I’m currently using my Morrowind v. 1.0 computer (without Bloodmoon or Tribunal) so I can’t say for certain whether it’s a bug with the mod or just my really old version of Morrowind causing the problem. The author mentioned that the mod was made with the German version of Morrowind, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I did check mark it, but when I come and play its just the same morrowind bodies with the funny looking walking etc.

And as for the Darth Maul mod I also played it without any patches, or having the expansions installed so I suppose that could be the problem.

EDIT: I'm not sure if I should mention this but I also have the GOTY edition.

Huh, that's odd. I just downloaded and installed it on this computer (which didn't have it before) and everything seems to be working. You installed it under C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Data Files right? Or where ever you have Morrowind installed?

Edit:

The GOTY version wouldn't affect anything that I know of, any mod should technically work fine with it.

The Darth Maul mod requires Better Bodies, so it won't work properly until you fix BB. Didn't seems to require the expansions.
Not sure what's wrong with your installation of Better Bodies though.

Yes.

Hrmmm..... I can't think of anything that would be wrong with it then. Maybe try re-installing Better Bodies and using a different version (like the underwear version or something) and see if that works.

Are you using windows vista , windows 7 or the steam (downloaded) version of Morrowind ? If so there may be different steps you need to take than if using windows XP and the regular CD version of Morrowind.

Which version of the Darth Maul mod are you using ?http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8645 there are 4 variations with/without underwear hi/low rez , if we know which then we can test the mod to determine if the mod is at fault.

The warnings text provides important clues as to the cause of your problem, play the game again and post the exact message word for word as this will pinpoint where the problem is and narrows the possibilities considerably. You state
it says something about how it cant use the file
however the mod has several files , the warnings text should tell us which one is at fault and importantly , why it is at fault. Alternatively copy the contents of your warnings.txt document which is in your Morrowind folder and paste the contents here.

I'm using XP and the CD GOTY version of morrowind. The warning texts say that the file can't be found and that its going to use the default file. I just uninstalled and re-installed my morrowind and I am going to try running better bodies again.

EDIT: Ok After installing better bodies for the fifth time or so, I think it is finally working. Here is a screen shot I took with x-fire. http://www.xfire.com/profile/xdcanada/screenshots/?view#103442104

Is this better bodies? The running/walking animations etc. seem alot more fluent now for the npc's and everyone is wearing the same black underwear so Im guessing it is.

It should also probably be good to note that instead of just clicking my way through the installation I chose the Underwear version instead of just leaving it at nvde as it usually is and now it works for me.
