Mods/Patches/Plugins to make the game run smoother?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:08 pm

I'm new this so be gentle.

So I got the game on my system (First PC game I've played since Red Alert 2) and it runs pretty well but there are a couple of minor problems that make the game a little less fluid in outdoor areas. One example is that the draw distance seems to make some doors partially disappear and pop in and out of the walls.

I'm running it on an Acer Aspire One Netbook so it may just be my systems fault entirely but just in case it isn't I was wanting to know of there was anything I could download that would fix these minor issues.

Remember, I'm not looking for anything that would enhance the graphics, just smooth them over a bit.

Doors popping in and out of existence (and other graphical glitches) are caused by your graphic card. Netbooks have very weak cards.
It's nothing that can be fixed, unless you buy new hardware.

A widely used trick to help increase performance is to open your Morrowind ini file and change this line: Max FPS=240 to Max FPS=60
This often improves the frame rate flow, and improves the functioning of some menu buttons.

The http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=utilities.detail&id=22 is great for keeping FPS under your control and more stable.

There's also lots of info http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/page__p__15392814#entry15392814 that will help you find info you'll likely be needing.
