No mods in skyrim?

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:59 am

So basically I have been wondering about skyrim and the modding of it and I think I won't get any mods for it unless it really misses something. I have been thinking (and I know I am gonna get a lot of hate for this) that maybe it's best to not add modding possebilities (can't spell lol) because I myself get really sad and depressed when I see a video on youtube when someone has taken oblivion and modded it into some sort of [censored] Devil may cry/hentai/manga/cartoon/call of duty by using mods that changes every aspect of the game. Then the game has lost all of it's purpose and you just bought it for the graphics engine which is just sad. What are your feelings on this?

If they don't include the Creation Kit, I will not buy the game. This is a situation where "don't like it, don't use it" is applicable, unlike fast travel.

But you're focusing on a limited set of mods. Mods like FCOM, better cities, unique landscapes, deadly reflex, and various ui and graphical mods make Oblivion much, much better imo.

Bonus to you, and if somebody buy the game just to play with the 3D engine, why should anybody care.

I'll first play it vanilla, then probably start modding it myself .

And while you're at it, please ban games like Devil May Cry/Call of Duty etc because Mr. TheRealSlimViking doesn't like them. Oh, and I heard he doesn't like pizza, so ban pizza as well. And since pizza is made of flour please ban flour too. And...

Congratulations for making one of the most intolerant, ignorant and imbecile threads I've seen in a long time.

You've got mods all wrong. Mods are great. Not everybody shoehorns crappy anime hair (or catgirls and tentacle monsters with boundary issues) into the game. Hell, even if you like the vanilla gameplay you can make little tweaks to suit things to your liking, or at the very least improve the visuals down the line. Search Youtube for "morrowind graphics" and see what people have been doing with the engine. It's mind-blowing how much they've improved on it.

Modding isn't mandatory. I doubt many people buy a game just for the graphics engine, but remember that there are a lot of people still playing Morrowind, who have been playing it ever since it came out. I suspect the main reason for that is mods. No matter how much someone likes a game, by the time that person is on the 20th character, I'm thinking many people would start to get a little bored with the vanilla only content. I realize the playstyles some mods create aren't very similar to the vision of the developers, but Bethesda chose to support modding and some of the new features in Skyrim were inspired by mods. If you read blogs or biographies of game developers much, you will often see them waxing nostalgic about modding various games before they went pro. Do some people buy games primarily to mod them? I am sure they do. I am not sure how that would be sad. It's their money, and their free time. Nothing the people who make YouTube videos do in their own game affects yours. I don't think it's the mods that are depressing you per se. I think it's probably that you feel alienated by some other people's aesthetics. There is nothing that can be done about that, really. Anime and hentai, etc. would not go away if there were no Oblivion mods. I've seen plenty of mods that are not to my tastes, and sometimes I even feel disturbed that a few of them exist and are popular. I'm sure some of those people would find my taste sickly sweet and nauseating, though. My game belongs to me, their games belong to them, and your game belongs to you. I am grateful to Bethesda for making it relatively easy for individuals to play how they want to play. It's generous of them.

I would suggest that you do a better reearch before posting threads like this.
1) You don't have to add the mods that doesn't suit you.
2) A lot of mods to OB and MW tweaks feature in the games for a better experience, while it retains the basics of the vanilla game. Graphics and lvl scaling improvements are the most common ones(except the stupid "naked people" mods  ) from what I know.

I'm an xbox user, but it would be a sad day to see no creation kit/mods on the PC version. Even though i can't use mods,i still look on the net/youtube to see what people can do. There are some very creative people out there, and they should express that. Not all mods are great, but there are some great one's out there. Using mods also can help add things like extended gameplay or for those that have great computers better graphics and so on.It also put's other ideas out there for future elder scrolls games ( Look at the archery mod )....it's also stated todd liked the bedroll/camproll mod. Some mods are stupid, but you have a choice whether to use them or not. Let people get creative,it's a benefit for everyone, even console users.

Yeah lets take away something completely optional that provides limitless content sometimes better than the vanilla game that keeps people playing for years after release and draws fans to the series years after release because you don't like it.
Why do you even care if someone adds some mod you don't like to the game? If someone bought the game solely for the purpose of playing with what's possible with the engine what does that matter to you? You do realize mods for oblivion had an extremely heavy influence on some of Sktrim's design right?
Btw they already announced the Creation Kit so yeah too bad for you

Mods are beautiful. Don't like it don't use it. I just downloaded a mod that gave me guts' hellhound armor complete with dragonslayer.

Wait . . . you want mod support removed from the game . . . merely because it depresses you to watch YouTube videos of mods you don't like? What? Seriously?

How about you just refrain from installing those mods and watching videos of them? And why does it make a flying boshnupper to you what someone else does with the game?

No mod tools for this game, no purchase by me, and that's just a fact. Unfortunately for you, it seems that the devs are perfectly sane.

This will be a single player game. Whatever the reason someone buys the game for is up to that person, whether is be to whack through the main quest using console commands, spending countless hours just exploring or making mods of any kind. The OP has his own opinion but this is just leading to unnecessary arguing, Buy the game and do what you will with it.

What next? I know some people who bought Morrowind and never ever played it.
