My Mods

Post » Sat Aug 07, 2010 8:20 pm

Hi All,

I've decided for the time being to put all my modding on hold. I haven't the time or interest in MW game at the moment, so modding for it is difficult.
I'm aware I had a number of WIPs, and hopefully later in the year I'll be able to get back into MW & modding.

I know there are a number of new creatures being designed, some of which were going to appear in Creature XI. Now I'm more then happy for anyone to make a Creatures addon that adds these creatures (or just their own mod to add creatures).

I WILL still be on these forums, so any questions about my mods, just post here and I'll pick them up (especially if you include the word Piratelord in the post as I frequently search for my ID).

Now I've also had some problems with Filefront, and every single file I hosted on there has gone. So I need to reupload mods like Creatures, Expanded Sounds (and various Oblivion mods). I only want to pick one site to upload to, which would you recommend?

I didn't know Filefront was a problem, but I'm a novice anyway. What about Tesnexus?

Good luck with your writer's block. When MW hits you again, you'll be back into the swing with a renewed vigor. Hopefully.

I'd go with PES. Thanks for the info.

PES is a popular site for Morrowind mods, but I also like TESNexus for the control you can have over your own mods and the download page. You could try both - the more, the merrier! :P

Best of luck with your endeavors, PirateLord!

Oh, by the way, I wanted to send you a Happy Birthday message a few days ago, but your inbox was full. So:

:celebration: Happy (Belated) Birthday, PirateLord! :celebration:

I know how that is. I'm sure you'll come back refreshed. :)

Eww.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I find that site incredibly annoying. I guess it works fine for alot of people, but a significant number of users, myself included, find that it hates us.

I don't mind TesNexus myself, but I'd take PES over TesNexus if I had to choose just one.

I happen to be a bit biased to PES. But I will say that out of all the major sites, PES does have the most reliable corporate backing. So if long term availability is your goal, it would be your best bet.

I personally prefer Nexus, it's much less of a hassle to manage your stuff there, on PES you have to go through approval and all that stuff, plus the layout is weird, and the downloads often don't work.

I visit both regularly, both have their ups and down, but both great overall (PES still tend to favors Morrowind Mods and TESNexus favors Oblivion Mods) but why not upload on both.

Oh, and I think this belongs to ya! -----------> :cake:

There is always Elric's Mod Portal, too.

The downloads not working on PES seems to me to be a problem of the individual user's internet connection, really. I've never had a single problem downloading from PES, even on mods where everyone is raging up and down that the downloads aren't working for them.

Same here.

@PirateLord
I recommend PES.

True. However, there are several aspects to ElricM that I dislike:
1) No screenshots
2) No feedback comments from users (I find these are useful to find out if there are any bugs with my mod)
3) only one download file per download page (you cannot have multiple downloads per download page)
4) You cannot update your download file. I had to ask Elric himself to do that for me.
The only benefit is that users do not have to create an account to download files.

I've had no trouble with PES downloads, and no trouble with TESNexus, save when the server gets overloaded (but I think Dark0ne is sorting that out).

First off, happy birthday, much belated. :)

Second, I totally understand where you're coming from. Taking a break is a good idea. Lest you start having dreams about Morrowind.

Oh, Manauser, what exactly is your issue with Tesnexus? Feel free to PM me, I'm curious.

I've sorted out my Maleori hosting, so will be able to upload my missing mods on there.

I'll most likely update them to include the minor tweaks/bug fixes discussed but without all the new content. Totally optional for exisiting players to download.

Since now hosted on the Maelori server, be pretty sweet for some forum goers here to visit the actual project and perhaps join the forum. Maelori is based on a fantasy RPG world, and we welcome ideas. Only real forum activity is between the devs, so having some more casual interest would be great.

Well, I have some bad news.

My PC died last night :nuke: :brokencomputer: . Worst case is I've lost all my data and have to buy a new PC, best case is I just have to buy some replacement part and everything else is fine.

And yes, I have no backups. My external HD died some time ago and I never got around to replacing it. :slap:

This may mean once I'm up and running again I will need people who use my mods to send them back to me  , since they are no longer on filefront. :banghead:

Just had to make use of emotes :twirl:

Aw, I mourn for your loss. Lost a PC once, took me months to recover :(
Good luck getting your data back, not only the MW stuff, all of it.

There can never be enough emotes to express the pain of data loss - hope the replacement part or new pc makes you smile when it is up and running though.
