Mods that add more random encounters with NPC's?

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 3:15 pm

Exactly as the title states. I was really surprised and really enjoyed finding an "Adventurer" NPC in one of the Oblivion dungeons the first time I played this game. I hoped I would see more, but I believe that was the only one. I did find one mod from Delte's Immersion Mods thread called http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25449 which looks interesting.

Does anyone know of any mods similar to this?

Surely there is a mod somewhere that at least adds more of the "Adventurer" NPC's to other dungeons, or is this harder to accomplish then it sounds? I am not too CS savvy.

Really? Well, I use FCOM but haven't noticed anything like this. It adds more Adventurers to dungeons specifically?

I have yet to see any but I will keep an eye out.

I know http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9858 adds random adventurers inside oblivion gates.

Just to name another I already know about that accomplishes the goal of having more random encounters. Wouldn't play without Enhanced Daedric Invasion either.

Does anyone know any others similar to these two mods I've mentioned? It is nice to see some friendly faces in the deepest parts of the world.

EDIT: beat me to it br0sk1 lol

OOO adds dead hand placed adventurers in many dungeons, while MMM adds live adventurer parties. With MMM there's also a small chance that a dungeon may see a faction war between Bandits and Marauders and possibly other combos.

That sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I have never seen any of this... it must be a very small chance as you say. I have yet to see a friendly NPC in any of the dungeons, maybe I am looking in the wrong dungeons? I would really like to see these live adventurer parties... how often do they occur?

Sweet! Exactly the kind of thing I am looking for. Breathing more life into Oblivion outside the cities.

You might also like http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19060. It adds NPCs traveling along the roads. I have also never encountered adventurer parties while playing OOO or MMM. Maybe that is FCOM? I wouldn't know though I never took the FCOM plunge yet.

I may have an ask in the FCOM thread about that. I would really like to see that if it exists. Does anyone know possibly how common the chances are to see either the adventurer parties or the other NPC's added to dungeons from OOO?

I saw the Immersive Travelers in the Immersion thread, but couldn't really tell a difference according to the description or images compared to Tamriel Travelers so I suppose I'll just stick w/ TT for now they seem awfully similar to see besides "Immersive" being in the name of one :D

I think the difference between the two is that immersive travelers are just travelers and TT adds traveling merchants. I use Roaming NPCs, Immersive Travelers and TT and they all work in perfect harmony to bring a little extra life to the wilderness of cyrodiil.

Can't give a percentage of the chances as I haven't checked, but it's not uncommon so a bit odd if people using OOO and/or MMM or FCOM haven't stumbled upon them:

OOO:

Adventurers

Adventurers regularly explore dungeons, and they may also loot clean dungeon containers. If the containers are locked, then the adventurers will use their lockpicks to open them. If they run out of lockpicks, they will not be able to open the container. Finally, OOO traps now affect adventurers as well. You now have the dilemma of whether to let adventurers loot containers or not. They could get rid of a trap for you, and receive the damage themselves, but by the same token, they could survive and take whatever was found inside the container.

MMM:

Adventurer Overhaul::

The Adventurers in MMM have undergone an overhaul also, bringing the total number to at least 55 different Adventurer types you can meet and include everything from Scouts and Bards through Plunderers, Tomb Raiders, and Warriors.

Additionally, equipped armors have been split into Light and Heavy for the various classes, there's a greatly reduced chance of carrying magical items, greatly expanded personality/background loot drops, and stealthier classes now sneak while looting. Finally the two biggest changes include: Adventurers now can loot chests from both OOO and Frans and, best of all -- you can now find them in Oblivion too, in larger numbers than in dungeons and ruins. Like you, they're risking an assault into Oblivion itself.

I found adventurers in the first dungeon I went in with FCOM. Haven't found any since though. It was pretty awesome when I came in and there was a fight between them and some zombies, but they kept stealing all the loot!

Actually I came across them just today when I was doing a contract for the blackwood company (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17448 mod if you're interested) in bloodrun cave
Actually the fact I didn't come across them before probably stems from the fact that I don't often enter dungeons at the moment because I tend to die alot (my first char with OOO+MMM+difficulty 70) lol. Apologies for the misinformation.
