[req] mods that make the game nicer looking.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:06 pm

hi, i was looking for maybe some texture replacement mods , some new head and hairs. but i want to avoid changing too much of vanillia content like bodies. i also would like to still have the feel of morrowind, i dont want any bright happy looking textures. i like the dull gloomy look of the game. does anyone have any suggestions? (oh maybe even rextures for creatures and props and stuff would be nice if they're available.)

thank you to anyone who reply's.

I'm using Richer Textures. Keeps the flavor and doesn't impact performance.

yeah, i was going to use that one. i even had it installed. but it was messing with my other texture mods, because it replaces more than just landscapes and interior exterior structures... =(

You will have that with most large texture packs. If you install it first as a base replacer and then install your other texture mods over it they will overwrite it. That will give you the result you want.

All the posted links are good ones, but I'll throw in one more suggestion:

http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html

It deals with more than graphics, and might be more complicated than your looking for, but it's a great list.

Darknuts's Weapons, Armor, and Creature Textures are excellent. The mesh replacers are, too. MGE is a must if your system can run it. The Lighting Mod and Illuminated Windows or Windows Glow are must-haves.

It's worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet.

The old classic Visual Packs, along with Visual Packs XT and VP Nature, retain the "feel" of the basic game pretty well. They're not the highest resolution textures available anymore, but are far better than the "vanilla" ones, in my opinion, without impacting frame rates significantly. After that, I end up overwriting parts of it with about 20-30 smaller "specific" replacers for everything from local architecture, armor, weapon, and creature replacers (mostly Connary's work, if you can still find it) to reflective silverware (Ghostnull) and other small details that make everything look "credible".

Find a decent texture viewer, so you don't have to add a texture mod to your game, decide that you don't like the one specific texture, then have to re-install the previous texture pack to get back to where you were. I generally preview the textures before I add them, and often "pick and choose" favorite details from two or three different artists' works: "I like this woodgrain, but I prefer that metal strip". After spending a few nights getting it all pretty much how I like it, doing it all over again from scratch would be a traumatic experience.

well, iv stopped worrying about the landscapes. i like them as they are. they arnt too bad. but does anyone know of a good chitin helm replacement? the vanilla (even with darknuts texture replacement) reminds me of a wasteland warrior helmet with a pointy tip -.-

The only chitin armor replacer I know is http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5927, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. :P
