When I played it for PC I spent more time looking for mods then actually playing the game, but that's just me. I'd recommend it, but just make sure your computer can play it.

I switched from my 360 to this new PC just for the mods. They add a wealth of new quests, weapons, armor, and new features. I say go for it and buy NV for PC, just make sure your PC is up to handling New Vegas. There is no absolute limit but with too many mods New Vegas can become laggy and crash a lot, among other things.

Guess it is good thread for my queston. there is any possibility to make a thread with lore friendly mods than name of thread? And guess Bethesda would suggest mods.
Emphasis is on friendly lore so nobody will be angry because their mods dont be put into thread.
for example i try to find a good mercenary mod if my charachter is merchant rather to escort. But i have found cheats, no lore, fps mods only.
Or would be nice a mod to put business to Fallout new Vegas, etc, etc.
Otherwise THANK YOU Bethesda this game so Fallout New Vegas and THANK YOU Obsidians too!! It really make me good experiences!!

Agreed, it's easily my favorite mod. I always have CFWNV and Classic Midwestern Power Armor active, so I can rock out with some old school gear.

I rock XFO, bro, and unlootable Power Armor, and I have delved into the GECK to modify the game to be more lore friendly, making Legionaries tough as nails (as they should be, according to lore), buffing Paladins, and generally making the game a bit better balanced and lore friendly.

I think Fallout new vegas run in time later than Fallout right? +100 year?
Sorry i think you dont know what mean lore friendly.
So personally i like FNV really. And i use hard mode and hard level, etc, etc.
I dont want to modify this game to easier or to fps.
But have fun with mods :)

You do not want to get in a fight with a Dinosaur about what is lore-friendly, just saying.

I might be one of the select very few, who thinks that mods don't really improve on anything but rather distract from the intended experience (as well as cause stability and balance issues), and thus sees that getting them isn't really worth it in the long run (despite that all the openworld games made by Bethesda or on Bethesdas interpretation of Gamebryo have severe need of them in one way or the other --- it's almost a paradoxal situation).

I understand.
Personally dont use because hard level is enough me in FNV. so no need to get sometihng to normal level.
Just i tried to find some lore friendly things. Unfortunatelly 90% of mods are cheats, no lore friendly, or fps thing.
Sure true rpg start to miss off from computer games. But FNV is a really good rpg! Iam happy because Bethesda and Obsidian gave it us :)
Sure I like Fallout 3 too. But FNV far better rpg.

I believe there is a maximum of 255 plugins (at least there was in previous games). Some people have reported hitting the max amount of plugins well before this number. This can be avoided somewhat by using http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35003

255 plugins, though there are ways around that. And i believe there was a maximum number of files in the data folder the engine can handle too? Haven't yet encountered it myself, though.

As for the question: yes, i'd say so. It takes some time to learn the tools and editing required even when just using mods to make them work flawesly together, but it is very worth it. My current install has 107 plugins (including both DLCs, no pre-order packs) and a bunch of graphics mods, and it is a much more interesting and challenging gameplay experience.

Well mods are definitely worth it, but console commands are the real money maker. Whenever there's a bug, you can just use the tilde (~) to pop open the console and fix whatever's wrong. Of course you'll need access to the list of possible console commands via the Vault wiki.

Without trying to stomp on the nuts of console players out there, the right set of mods can enhance the game in just about every possible way. As it stands I could use a few more great quest mods and a few less gun retex's and immature body mods but hey, it's all free. I really can't complain.

Depends what you want mods for. If you like improved visuals/different GUI, weather, night that's actually very dark, new items/clothes, new Perks/Skills to choose from, new quests or increased difficulty (there are many ways to do that, YMMV), mods can be awesome. If none of those things appeal to you...well, probably not a whole lot there in terms of pre-made. However with the PC you can get the GECK yourself and make small changes on your own, to suit what you want. Like if you want more realistic gun damage (and only the gun damage...many "difficulty mods" change way, way too much stuff for my liking so I don't use), you could do that.

I don't run many mods and most of them I make myself. But the visual mods, bugfixes (broken Boone, sigh...) and IWS (to increase enemies on the map, I like difficult chaos) I like quite a bit. And a few clothing mods.
And for laughs/silly I like the dance/pose mods and multiple-companions...for immersion I tend to like mods that give companions more interactive or idle animations so they aren't as statue like all the time. But if you're a purist or not into that stuff, they won't add anything to the game. ;)

Once you've used Millenia's weapon retextures you'll think Obisidan's and Bethesda's texture artists are blind :hehe: And immature body mods? All i've seen have been very mature bodies :P

Seriously, humans being what they are there'll be no shortage of jugs and ammo. Might as well embrace it. Or be like me, and wallow in it :lmao:

I switched to PC from PS3 for Fallout New Vegas. I did it for two reasons. I had wanted to learn to mod since Oblivion and FNV had problems from the beginning so I wanted to be able to use any bugfixes if they were out there. I've never looked back and the biggest reason is that when they broke Boone in Patch 1.2 and now he's only half-fixed in Patch 1.4, I can still play with a fixed Boone because of a community mod. Boone works perfectly in my modded game.

My modding needs are simple though. It all depends on what you're interested in. I'm mostly happy with the vanilla game but I do use the Unlimited Companions mod, the Centered Camera mod, the Boone bugfix and the Wasteland Spawns (IWS) mod that can respawn a light, medium or heavy amount of enemies to fight when the Wasteland feels too empty at higher levels. There's even a new area to fight in but the companions can't go there.

Occasionally I'll load up Umpa's dance mod and play around with that. There's some quest mods too and the one I did for the renovation of the Bison Steve Hotel was fun and it looked great. The new dialogue for the quest was all written, not spoken for that mod.

Just a few thoughts that might help. I love Fallout New Vegas and anything I can add to it to keep it interesting or working properly is a good thing. :)

This is true. I've been using Millenia's retex's for a while now, seriously quality stuff. Speaking of pretty killing tools you ought to check out "EVE" if you haven't already. Adds some gore effects to regular kills and amazing energy weapon crit effects.
