MODs to would be great to include in the next patch

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:06 am

I was reading the following webpage and some of the mods would be great to have them included in the game without moding.
Some of them could make hardcoe Mode a lot harder/better.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/11/02/25-best-fallout-new-vegas-mods/

7. Improved throwing - Would be nice to be able to pick up the spear or throwing Knifes you throw
8. Depth of Field - Would get the game a nice feel.
10. More Grass - Would get the game a nice feel.
12. Bottle water - Instead of having 50 bottles of water you could carry a few and just refill the when needed.
13. Caps have weight - Ammo have weight in hardcoe way can't Caps?
14. Lethal headshots - Make headshots harder to get but deal alot more damage (alomst insta-kill if you don't have someing protecting you head)
16. Fellout: New Vegas - Would get the game a nice feel.
18. Companion Sandbox Mode - This would be intersesting
19. ED-E no longer has clumsy, invisible legs - this is a given...floating robots don't have legs...
21. Automatic skill perks - This would be a nice idea on some small perks like rapid reload.

Could someone from Betheads Comment?

Rapid reload isn't exactly a small perk.

Maybe by itself, but once u max out other related perks, it adds a significant ammount of power to the player.

I agree with bottle water. OR give us a canteen that's refilabile.

Oh they should definitely use the "caps have weight" thing if they add HCM+1.
More grass isn't exactly needed but it would be nice with some more plants to farm from.
Sandstorm would be awesome but it shouldn't happen all the time.
Food don't heal should also be in HCM+1.

Hrm...let's see here...

7. Improved throwing - Would be nice to be able to pick up the spear or throwing Knifes you throw
Yup
8. Depth of Field - Would get the game a nice feel.
Maybe
10. More Grass - Would get the game a nice feel.
No. This is the Mojave. I don't know if you've ever been there but there's hardly no grass growing wild.
12. Bottle water - Instead of having 50 bottles of water you could carry a few and just refill the when needed.
This would be great for hardcoe players
13. Caps have weight - Ammo have weight in hardcoe way can't Caps?
Hell no.
14. Lethal headshots - Make headshots harder to get but deal alot more damage (alomst insta-kill if you don't have someing protecting you head)
100% agree. A shot to the brain should be fatal even if it's with a .22. If the gun is capable of piercing the skull the gun should be capable of a one-shot kill.
16. Fellout: New Vegas - Would get the game a nice feel.
What I don't get is why they didn't render Fellout useless in the first place.
18. Companion Sandbox Mode - This would be intersesting
Nice touch
19. ED-E no longer has clumsy, invisible legs - this is a given...floating robots don't have legs...
HELL YES. ED-E has blown me up several times.
21. Automatic skill perks - This would be a nice idea on some small perks like rapid reload.
No, I want to choose my own perks.

i'd pretty much say that none of them should be in a patch because each and every one changes the game way too much and therefore should remain as mods =\ alot of people would/wouldn't want each of the features listed. i personally didn't like the sound of any of them*, but the choice to include them is still there, so let's keep things that way :fallout:

*correction, improved throwing sounds good :)

I highly doubt they would add this stuff with a patch, or ever.

But im really digging a lot of the mods... Mainly improved throwing.

So you really think Ed-E should have invisible legs that blow up mines? Or you should drink water and eat the bottle afterwards? I don't agree with mods like "more grass" But some of them simply fixes the faults of the game and should be patched to the game. Like harder headshots that "usually kill" unless you are firing a pistol from too far away.

the water bottle thing makes sense but it would make an already pretty easy hardcoe mode even easier =\ and i think i glossed over the thing about ED-E legs that does sound pretty dumb and surely needs fixing :) making headshots more lethal i don't like because then you'll have no reason to shoot at other body parts - headshots would always be the best option. especially outside of VATS where you'd suffer no loss of accuracy.

Never noticed that. How is that even possible? A Mister Gutsy doesn't set off mines, i know, i've tried. But place a pulse mine on it's route and set it off with a pulse grenade... :shocking:

If mods and the ability to use mods were released in the next patch, it would almost be counter productive.

Some of these mods are not exactly polished, and some are known for bugs and glitches. By allowing it, you're just opening a whole new can of worms.

Land mines are pressure activated, meaning something must touch it. Maybe there are other types, but i don't know about those.

Frag mines in Fallout are obviously proximity mines, not pressure activated.

You can set them off from several feet away.

If any Mods get intergated in to the game,I'm sure the Devs would polish they or rewrite the right into the base cose of the game.

You must not have been around for the 1.5 patch for Fallout. While they may take some of the ideas that modders have come up with, I highly doubt they'd add all those mods to the game.

I think they work the same, just that they have different activation ranges. Mines have larger one while the bear trap has a minimal one. And yes ED-E can activate floor traps/mines even though it's floating. There was a mod on Nexus that added the perk that allows him to pass over floor traps/mines and not activate them (name of the perk escapes me).

Silent Running, I believe. No, wait, Light Step is the perk.

(And perks now affect NPCs, which makes things easier.)

(edited to put in right perk name...)

Pretty sure there's already a few refillable water bottle/refillable canteen mods out. As well as 'use item' mod, which will put empty chem cartridges in your inventory.

Aside from none of these, or any mods, being included in an official patch, lets go over them.

7. Improved throwing - Would be nice to be able to pick up the spear or throwing Knifes you throw - I can agree with this one

8. Depth of Field - Would get the game a nice feel. - God no. The poor implimentation (IMO) of how mods do it really REALLY hurts my eyes. Because the DOF does not adjust, let alone as eyes naturally do, it would be a game killer for me if they made it official.

10. More Grass - Would get the game a nice feel. - Meh, fine as is. It is in a desert after all.

12. Bottle water - Instead of having 50 bottles of water you could carry a few and just refill the when needed. - Meh, mod or official, either way.
13. Caps have weight - Ammo have weight in hardcoe way can't Caps? - No. Optional, fine, but without a toggle, I would seriously consider returning the game.
14. Lethal headshots - Make headshots harder to get but deal alot more damage (alomst insta-kill if you don't have someing protecting you head) - No. Headshots already do more damage then normal shots, so there is no need to make them MORE powerful. This is an RPG, not an FPS.
16. Fellout: New Vegas - Would get the game a nice feel. - Not in a million years. I personally dislike all of the changes by this mod. But again, if it were an option, then fine.
18. Companion Sandbox Mode - This would be intersesting - Either way. This is one I actually use.
19. ED-E no longer has clumsy, invisible legs - this is a given...floating robots don't have legs... - Never noticed (Though I know its there) so its a non-issue to me.
21. Automatic skill perks - This would be a nice idea on some small perks like rapid reload. - No comment.

Could someone from Betheads Comment? - Good luck.

Basically my point is, these are all personal opinions of yours, not the worlds, so these mods should stay as such. Optional content.

^Truth^

One man's trash is another man's treasure and vice versa... but these will most certainly not get included unless they fix a bug. Yet even in this case Obsidian will implement their own version of the fixes.

I can see the fixing other stuff like the 2 key being usable as a hotkey or fixing the nav-mesh (which is a joke) and many many other things.
