Mods. Your opinion.

Mods. What do you think of them?

I think we can base ourselves on Skyrim to know what kind of mods will appear for Fallout 4.

Mod fixes with better UI's and compatibility will happen. Those are good.

Mods with better graphics will happen. Those are either good or doesn't work on your pc. Which is better than nothing.

Other various mods for hardcoe mode and such will happen. Those are also good.

Mods with more weapons and armors will happen. They are almost all crap in my opinion.

Mods with more monsters will happen. Those are also usually [censored], almost all of them. Always some out of theme monster n crap.

Some guy claiming to seek balance will create a "balance" mod which will, as usual, make your character so powerful the game will be too easy. Those are also crap.

Pretty much, we will get good "patching" mods and the rest will be [censored].

[censored] to you is fun to someone else. It's the beauty of mods. You don't like it? You don't use it.

There will be more of everything, because reason. More guns, more gears, more enemies. Some silly, some lore-friendly.

There will be various balance mods, some will fit your play style and increase your fun factor, some won't be for you.

Please don't be disrespectful of the work of others.

Requiem, SkyRe, PerMa, FWE, Project Nevada were crap? Haha I will only buy the game to play with such a mod. More monsters, armors definitely - immersive armors in skyrim adds 10 times the existing armors in the game and much more beautiful armors than the originals.

The game will need many mods for random encounters, npc settlements and in general to make the world a more interesting and less empty place. The thing that saddens me is that modders won't be able to do much about poor quest branching and poor dialog system.

I love mods. I remember during the 80's if you didn't like the sky color or the face of your character, too bad, you were stuck with that forever. That was console after all. The first time I experienced the magic of modding was with Morrowind. That game was modded all the way to the bone marrow. Although, I do like playing vanilla first and then mod the game.

Shame that few games support this kind of extensive modding. Hopefully this will change.

gamesas games and mods go hand in hand. They NEED each other. Beth has gotten so used to the fact that the players finish their games for them that they now turn out half-written frameworks and call them games, knowing the modders will do the rest.

I do like how they often take the best mods and make them standard equipment on the next game.

The funny thing is that I think I like it that way.

It DOES really bug me though, that they cut so much stuff out in order to get it all to fit on one DVD. This is the one thing above all else that I really hate. As I understand it, we can't even install the whole game from the DVD this time, but have to download a huge percentage of it. I guess that's slightly better than only having the half of the game that would fit, but would it really kill them to just give us a second DVD in the box???

I was never able to use most of the REALLY cool mods made for previous games simply because my poor old computer can't handle them. I see I'm going to have to build a new megabeast computer to play Fallout 4, and that's good news; from what I gather, this game has some serious issues which will pretty much require some major modding to fix, so this time I'll be able to run them.

I really took Bethesda user-friendly modding tools, or better yet, the game itself, for granted. I thought all the other games not only had modding tools but also thought the games were easy to mod. I got a rude awakening. Take for example Arma 2. You freaking have to know a bit of coding just to slap a simple texture into the game. Not very user friendly.

You forgot nvde body replacers. That's, what, half of the Nexus' content?

On a more serious note: I detest most of the balance/overhaul mods because I almost universally disagree with their design philosophy. However, without Mod A doing Thing X, there'd never be a Mod B that does Thing Y as a counterpoint. That diversity allows me to pick and choose those mods that I do agree with to build my game as I see fit. That's a good thing.

Mods are great! I appreciate any released mods because I've tried my hand at modding and just didn't have the patience to learn to use the creation kit.

This mod community makes some amazing stuff :)

And Arma is one of the most mod-friendly games besides Bethesda's games.

xD. The Arma modding tools is rather powerful. Luckily, the Arma fan base have a lot of talent and dedication as well. I don't know if things have become better in Arma 3.

Runic Games (Torchlight series) is really mod-friendly, also. Not as high profile as Bethesda, nor is Torchlight as deep as Bethesda's titles, but the philosophy is very similar.

The reason why mods are so compelling is due to customization...We as geeks for the most part, spend countless time and money customizing our rigs, so it's only natural that we are compelled to customize our games, as well as our programs and the very directories in which they reside....Not one of my games/3D programs reside in "Programfiles" nor my pics/vids/docs/etc in My Documents/pics vids...

Which is why idiot game devs that store save files in AppData is so infuriating..
