Modular Chapters

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:53 am

hi guys,

I'm new to the Crysis forums tho I followed the franchise (from a distance at first as I am a console gamer) and more closely now since Crysis 2 was announced for consoles as well...so forgive me if this has been asked/answered already.

Will Chapters be modular in Crysis 2? Were they in the original Crysis?

By modular I mean, will I be able to replay single chapters (without re-starting a campaign mode) individually after unlocking upgrades and weapons to approach the same scenes, areas and spaces in different manners (like in Resident Evil 5) or will I be only able to use new upgrades in chapters that are successive to my finding and ulocking said upgrades?

Thanks in advance

You can play each level whenever you want, but I'm not sure about the unlocks

Crysis unfolded in chapters. Once you had completed a chapter you could reload and play that section again from a saved game. You couldn't take weapons back through the different sections because you found the various weapons along the way. There were no weapons upgrades as such, new weapons became available as part of the narrative.

Of course you could cheat and load whatever level you liked as well as make yourself invulnerable and give yourself the most powerful weapon in the game.

Now now, you can't tell me you didn't enjoy Onslaught in a TAC Tank.

interesting

what about Nanosuit and weapon upgrades?

would those be available in all modular chapters? Were they in Crysis (I know weapon upgrades were not present in the first game)

Yes they were. How did you manage to go through the whole game without picking up attachments?

In the first game nothing was upgradable, but you can pick up enemies' weapons to take their attachments and use them on your weapon.

In Crysis 2 you can start any level you want.

In the first game you cannot do this, but you have saves so you might consider that as an alternative.

I did not my friend, remember I am console player, I could only look at the first game and dream ;p

I am pleased to know single chapters can be replayed individually...that enhances the replay value tremendously. Hopefully ulockables will be retroactively avalianle dureing re-play.

in the last GameSpot video the interviewed developer said "he chose to bring along a microwave gun" and "he has not unlocked -insert weapon upgrade here- for his sniper rifle...it would have been nice to show you, it's everyone's favorite upgrade" ....which sounds promising in the regard of ulockables being retroactively available.

You cannot start any level you want in crysis 2.... If you are reffering to the leaked version, it was a dev build, and clearly if a dev wants to reproduce a bug at mission 7 he won't go through 1 to 7 again....

odd...from some comments on the G.S. xbox 360 gameplay showcase one would have assumed modular chapters would be in....

still no way to know until the 22nd

so I stumbled upon this vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqvQSMcZW_o&feature=player_embedded

at around 8:45 Nathan says "you'll want to go back and replay your favorite locations and play with different weapons and modules"

this makes me feel more optimistic about modular chapters being in

this makes an already LONG game even more replayable
